Ahh the infamous 1990 instrument cluster, with super tiny numbers, where you had to hunch over and poke your head through the steering wheel spokes to see how fast you were going.

Rented a UHaul truck with this config. & the H pattern on the shifter was upside down. With 2nd gear where 1st normally is. That thing was just lovely to drive compared to the typical rental truck. The gages were tiny tho!

Even though I've never liked Thomas Built Buses, it's cool to see one with the 5 spd. When I was in school all the Thomas's IRBL had diesel/ Auto. The only buses they had with stick shift were Wayne, which are my favorite.

Man I would’ve loved to see a driving video of this one for the sake of nostalgia. It sounds just like the 1995 Amtran/International 3800 5speed that I rode to school as a kid up till my freshman year. Bus 5-51 Greenbrier County. There was only one automatic bus at my school at the time. Now they completely retired all of the manual buses after 2014-15 or so I believe, according to my buddy who subs for the county now.

@Branbran1993 yeah, Greenbrier is all Thomas C2s and 2nd gen IC CEs now. Still a nice fleet, though!!

Adam that bus is very close to one I rode on on weekly night runs for ski club. A fellow has a small fleet. Maybe 5 buses. He spec them all for charters so he could make as much revenue as he could. He also used them in summer for summer camps. Sometimes 5 hours one way all up through ontario cottage country. One was 90-03 just like this one your showing but it had over head luggage racks and underneath luggage compartments on the outside. The other was a 96-04 it was DT 408 with a 5 speed , blue bird. Air ride rear suspension, tint. Alcoa buds all round and chrome bumper. He really loved his buses. Extra mud flaps , always spotless. I

When I was in school my district had buses almost identical to that. The only difference was that the ones I remember had automatics. But they were 90 or maybe 89 International Thomas's with low back seats.

My state Maryland specs must be so behind their times that they didn’t start high back seats until around 2009 (correct me if I’m wrong)
