Great memories, nfl primetime was the only place you could see extended highlights of every game on Sunday. My fav show

“How bad was the Falcons secondary? YOU MAKE THE CALL!”
@gluserty3 жыл бұрын
That Falcons secondary (with or without Deion Sanders and a still-productive Tim McKyer) continuing on throughout the 1990's had some real problems and got toasted for more TD passes than any other team in the decade, but at least they were a ball-hawking outfit in their 1998 Super Bowl season. In the Jerry Glanville era, I think part of it was design with their all-blitz style; but later, it was simply poor coverage.
@cbod143 жыл бұрын
@@gluserty That was exactly it. They sent everyone and if you don’t get there it’s trouble. Washington was great at picking up blitzes.
@gluserty3 жыл бұрын
@@cbod14 Oh no doubt, what a terrible offense/defense matchup for the Falcons, and a great one for Washington Team; that 1991 Washington line pass protected beautifully (Rypien could've taken a 47 step drop and probably would've still went untouched) versus any kind of defensive alignment, so I don't think what transpired could've happened any differently then it did. Oh, and the other thing: even with the Falcons blitzing, they weren't a particularly adept pass rushing outfit.

@@cbod14 but it’s not like teams that didn’t blitz had success vs Washington

Not only did Troy Aikman & Warren Moon throw pretty passes, but they were inducted into the Hall of Fame the same year.
@bradjames8913 жыл бұрын
They both have November birthdays. I believe Aikman's is Nov. 21 and Moon's Nov. 18

Moon was well deserved. Aikman had no business being a First ballot Hall of Famer though

The Bucs & Colts winning, an Icky Shuffle rewind, the Superdome fire...1991 Week 11 had all kinds of Primetime action!

@@StFidjnr That game was Stupor-pendous; I do find it highly amusing that those teams actually won in the same week though, and played rather well in doing it. The teams had a connection to each other with the upcoming 1992 draft as well due to the previous Chris Chandler trade. They were simpatico, sort of having what it amounts to a relationship for this brief period (the gang who couldn't play straight).

29 years ago today, 11/10/20! I vividly remember this weekend of games/this particular Primetime. This is basically when the 49ers (well the week after) and Eagles (week before) started their ultimately futile late season playoff pushes; both finished 10-6 after terrible starts. The Eagles comeback against Cleveland got a ton of hype here in PA behind McMahon's heroics. The 49ers loss to the Saints was ultimately the final blow to their playoff streak that reached back several years. It also served as basically a transition year between Young and Montana as Montana was dealing his horrible injuries and Young was banged up most of the season as well. This was also the day people started to consider the Redskins a historical great team. That demolition of Atlanta was epic. That's one of those college-like NFL blowouts that i'll never forget.

The Colts & Jets from 88-93 played some of the worst games you will ever see
@gluserty3 жыл бұрын
Some real stinkers in there for sure: 6-3, 9-6, 10-6...and then the 1990 Jets getting swept by the Colts after having comfortable leads early on, while providing the 1991 Colts with their only win of the season (although I have to say that particular game did have some excitement to it).

I was suprised to learn Aikman only passed for 20 tds one season his entire career!
@classicsports50573 жыл бұрын
Most of that is because he usually only threw about 390 passes a season. Dallas only usually ran around 40-50 offensive plays a game. It was a different game back then .
