"it has real character and real soul and I know how cliche and corny it's sounds..." You're absolutely right Mark, it does sound corny and cliche but it's absolutely true. I've owned a few E30 M3's over the years and I can completely attest to the fact they have an unmistakable soul and character all their own. Often I get people who drive more modern sports cars (and esp more modern M3's) saying "it's a cool car, looks great and handles well but it's so underpowered...." To those people I always say "if you think it's slow and underpowered, you aren't driving it hard enough. Keep the revs over 3500-4000 rpm, and it will reward you in a big way." Great story Mark and wonderful example of an iconic car. Those hood lights and rally-style wheels are awesome! And although we've seen E30 M3's on Petrolicious before, this is far and away my favorite car, owner and overall story! Thanks Petrolicious!

Man....what a humble guy. You can tell he’s been through it because he is genuine. I love stories like his. He’s walking because he wouldn’t accept having to drive an automatic. Truly inspirational. Thanks brotha! And that’s the cleanest M3 of ANY generation that I’ve seen

Mark, thanks for sharing this amazing tribute to an automotive legend. I grew up seeing these cars on the road when I was young, I would just stop in my tracks and smile, listen & enjoy. After years of saving and hard work I managed to purchase my dream. I still pinch myself when I open the garage door and think is this mine?! You are so right, if I hadn’t of seen and experienced the E30 M3 i doubt I’d have one now. This video is just simply “ A man and his dream” Thank you

It’s amazing, how mature grown ups talk about cars, when they are passionate about them. You can see a gleam of how they were as kids. Maybe for just one single second. But it’s there. Children have a unique way of perception of something really exciting for them. It‘s a raw, genuine, non-controlled expression of excitement. You can see the same reaction in older people, when they talk about their passion. At that decisive point of his life it was more important for him to be able to drive his favorite car, than to be able to walk again. Such an inspirational story about how our life should be (rationally) driven by our passion. I love Mark, his E30, his passion towards it, Petrolicious and all cars all over the world.

My E34 M5 has seen some track days.. some drives on the Autobahn at 7.000 rpm in 5th and glorious rides on B-roads. The inline 6 sings...and even with that car getting more valuable (last time I checked 25.000€ easy up to 32.000€ on my insurance card)...each time I am buying a Nordschleife Ticket or getting behind the wheel of it I immediat forget that this is my most valuable material possession, because it is more than a car...this thing has a soul and it wants to be alive at 7.000 rpm pressing the tires into the asphalt and singing...my heartbeat and the sonorous sound are symbiotic and become unified in a way..

6:54 that sensation is something just a car guy can understand..touchy..it happened to me as well, little kids pointing your car while crossing just rewards you because you know it can create emotions even when still..a car stimulates all senses and there's nothing else like it

Wow what a car, and what a story, this has long been my favourite car, I know I probably won't ever get to own one of these, but it remains a dream of mine. The looks, the sound, the pedigree, the success of these cars on track just makes them so very special indeed. The kind of car we will never see again I don't think, I've never experienced one myself but from what I've read and watched of them they are pure perfection in terms of balance, poise and handling. Thank you so much for using your car in this way and for allowing us to see how much It means to you. A true piece of Motorsport royalty, and a real legend of a car!

"As long as I can press the clutch I can drive" This is a real, car guy, "friend".... Cars and Drivers.....Never ever , has ever been about " money" I drive my Datsun Z like a favorite pair of jeans. Ive had minis and lotus and Healeys Just about every sports car . And the Datsun Z , made me want to get ( Ive had many in my past) one to be my classic car of choice. Style, looks, performance , soul.All in a Japanese Car designed for American Market. Im very honored everytime I drive I call it my Japanese Ferrari.
@MindDezign5 жыл бұрын
@Rob Trubiano its only time and the "Trickle down theory" sports cars like realistate is circulatory. We are at a point in vintage/classic sports cars ,where classic porsches, the World wants. So you look for something that has the same flavor but less expensive.The only sports car of that era was and is the Datsun Z. As far as Ferraris of that same era we had the beautiful Daytona ( which the Z reflects in its front turn signals, the fast back and the long front end And i independent rear suspension. All road testers kept saying the Datsun Z was Ferrari like, just needs better shocks! Ferrari at this time had the Italian Beauty the Dino..... But the Datsun Z's , biggest leap was, where it sat ,in the sports car Market against MG's Triumph's VW Karman Ghia , Alfa's , excetra it was roomier ,larger , long legged. It left the competition just looking impotent. The only logical competition was only the 911. And that car cost at least twice as much with more power at about the same size. So datsun Z will keep climbing steady , cause the 911 is unobtainium, even for the well heeled. And its not going to matter if the Z is modded or original. I mean its more desirable to have one tastefully up graded. Lets face it a bone stock 240 Z , uh. .great! But one tastefully modded , is alot more car = fun !
