The stock factory vacuum lines are horrible! Replace them with silicone! I can't recommend this enough. It's cheap and cuts out a lot of need to worry about lines cracking or leaking.
I bought this particular vacuum line from eBay seller first.racing, just do a search for the following:
10 Feet Blue ID:5mm (3/16") Silicone Vacuum Hose Tube High Performance

Very helpful! Thanks for posting it. Another tidbit for fellow 1st Gen owners is that the gasket on the booster valve can crack (or disintegrate, like mine did) , causing a vacuum leak. FYI I'm davidk on the Explorerforum - '93 Explorer 253K miles.

Mine did the same. It made a vacuum leak so loud that I could hear it with the hood closed. Engine still ran great though :) I'm natenkiki2004 on the Explorer Forum

Brake booster gasket?
@HsCSpanky
@HsCSpanky 7 жыл бұрын
What we're talking about is the rubber gasket on the brake booster. There's a plastic valve that the brake booster hose connects to, that valve is held into the brake booster with a rubber grommet/seal. That will crack and leak like crazy. You can visually see the cracks if you look close. If yours doesn't have any, don't worry about it.

Wasn't sure if that was what he was referring to. I would sure like to find a local source for some silicone hosing to do mine tomorrow.

Thank you thank you thank you!! I took my truck apart months ago and forgot where the vacuum lines went! You should tag the 94 Mazda b4000 in your video as the ranger and Mazda used the same engine at this time... I was just about to lose my mind when I found your video, thanks for saving me all the time and money I would have lost for the murderous rampage I almost went on! :)

@@kevinricardo7785 It’s been awhile, so if I recall I used some 3/8’s. What I did was yank off some of the rotten and went into O’Reilly and bought a few feet each of what I needed. Always handy to have extra random sizes laying around anyway.

I’m new to car projects, currently have a 95 Explorer Expedition (4.O V6 EFI) 4x4, got her to start but bad idle. Guy he removed AC system which I don’t plan to replace as this will be a off road vehicle, but he cut a lot of stuff now I have a green and a white small vacuum line by the battery on right side of engine bay when facing vehicle and I’m Not sure where they go to. I need to reconnect them but I need help to know where they go. I like your video learned a lot I’m wondering if you could provide me with some guidance. Also, would your vacuum line diagram be the same as mine?

First, best of luck in your project! Unfortunately the 1995 is the first year of the second generation, totally different from the one in the video. I would recommend looking on eBay for a evtm manual for the 1995. It will tell you everything about the vacuum and electric lines. Honestly though, as long as the vacuum lines are connected, that's all there is to do. Doesn't matter where lines are connected, it's all the same vacuum. Just make sure to plug any unused vacuum ports so you don't have a leak. A small vacuum leak won't hurt idle that much. A vacuum leak big enough to mess with idle you'd be able to hear the scream of air. I'd look at spark wires and coils, a common issue on these.

Hello, I have a 1994 explorer, with the a4ld transmission, the other day, testing the vacuum lines, I blew the hose that goes to the transmission vacuum modulator, the impression I had is that the air was flowing, that is, there was no pressure, it seemed that the air I blew was coming out somewhere, and I thought, if it comes out, it can also come in... my question is is this normal or should it generate pressure. I notice that the shift to second is bad, high revs when, especially with the car cold. thanks for your attention.

Do you still have the truck? I have a 1986 Ford Bronco 2 that had an engine change to a 1st generation 150.. your engine configuration looks exactly like mine except I got it vroken and missing alot... I am looking to see if you can show me where the pcv valve hose is routed to.
@HsCSpanky
@HsCSpanky 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, it's hard to see in the video but the PCV is located right below the vacuum tree. If you pause about 55 seconds into the video, there's a silver ring on top of the valve cover and that's the PCV. I don't have the truck anymore unfortunately but I believe the PCV has it's own port right below the vacuum tree, it's a right-angle piece and very short.

could you go a little more in depth on which hose is the cruise control? i am having some rough idle issues with my 94 Mazda b4000 and i found that a hose is loose and cannot figure out where it is suppose to go, thanks!
@HsCSpanky
@HsCSpanky 6 жыл бұрын
VIKING KING it really doesn't matter where the hoses go, just follow the hoses away from the upper intake junction and make sure they're secure and don't have any holes or cracks. I do remember that the cruise control vacuum line is a thicker rubber hose. While it could be cracked, the small plastic lines for the fuel pressure regulator and heater controls are far more suspect. They go behind the engine and over to the passenger side by the air box.
@vikingking4724
@vikingking4724 6 жыл бұрын
That's the problem, the hose popped off while starting it and I could not find it after an hour of searching, it was the forward of the 3 that you tied together
@HsCSpanky
@HsCSpanky 6 жыл бұрын
VIKING KING alright, the cruise control hose is going to be on the driver's side, coming from a black circular plastic device about the size of a coffee cup. I think it's mounted behind the coolant reservoir on the fender.
