1991 GMC Jimmy Off Road Design Steering Box Frame Brace Kit Installation

Installed an Off Road Design steering box brace kit on my 1991 GMC Jimmy with the front clip removed. Makes it easy to see what needs to be done to install this kit.
No frame crack was present on this truck. The photo is from a truck I sold recently, which had a cracked frame, unbeknownst to me. I sold the truck to a co-worker, and assisted in repairing the frame and installing this same kit for re-enforcement.

Could you have mounted me brace up and put a drill bit through the hole and drilled through the crossmember and put bolt and washers in place?Thanks

Just an FYI, that particular bracket that you're not sure of, is the back up bracket for the bumper tie bracket. It's to stiffen the frame for that, and for strength triangulation to the cross member. The holes should have been opened up to accept the new location.

I through bolted the box to frame with this kit all you need is longer bolts it with lock washers and nut all grade 8

The trucks are so tough (by reputation) but it's got a thin ass C channel frame. While my 2000 zr2 s10 has thicker steel and is fully boxed, even though they too are know to crack at the steering box. I have an 87 k5 tbi350 and I love the truck but damn it's got a pussy ass frame. My wife's 07 Kia Sorrento also has a thicker steel and fully boxed frame. Those 07-09 Sorrento are actually built really well. Full boxed frame, solid rear axles, 5 speed auto and a high I think a 275hp 3.8L v6 that can out run a 5th gen v6 camaro. I've beat 6 different ones so I know it wasn't a fluke. There is also a guy here on KZbin that is putting a 6.0 LS in his 4wd 07 Sorrento and alot of the plugs are the same. It should be a bad ass build when it's completely done. It's still got so.e bugs last I Che ked but it is damn sure an impressive vehicle and he did keep it 4wd.

If you're still wondering what causes the frame on your truck to crack the bolts work loose while going down the road do to road vibration. To fix this problem use lock tight on the bolts.
