a blast from the past for me, i had 4 JDM preludes... no factory M2B4 LSD gearbox unless someone swapped one into it, passenger side has been replaced from a black interior model, factory cd stacker is missing this car has a few rarish parts on it: - Factory keyless Infra Red remote - Factory floor mats from series 2 - Spoon strut brace - Value Sports eyelids, side skirts and rear lip

Say what you like, but I grew up around a lot of these 90s Honda's and such and just love them. People will call you out for owning them and such, but I loved my 89 civic. Though I properly modded mine, none of that rice shit... Though no matter what you do you'll be called a ricer in one of these.. Even with a 2.0 modified you can out run a lot of cars with big V8s.
@01gtbdaily306 жыл бұрын
mynameisray c’mon man let’s be honest a 2.0 without turbo isn’t outrunning any V8 unless they don’t know you’re racing.
@mynameisray6 жыл бұрын
01GTB Daily - That's exactly what I said, a modified 2.0 will take down V8s. Modification includes a turbo or a super.
@mynameisray6 жыл бұрын
01GTB Daily - The point I was making was people don't seem to respect the 2.0. They think that because it's a small 4cyl it can't make big power. And you shouldn't like your own comment, that's just silly.

mynameisray when you say modified it's a broad spectrum many Honda's with a k20 or k24 swap even h22 swaps run good 1/4 times power to weight ratio is what alot of people don't understand I own a turbo 91 civic with a built sleeved motor. Alot of cars would not be able to keep up with me. also owned a 07 civic si that made 560whp some street bikes couldn't even hang it all comes down to what you have done both sides will argue the weak points and modifications a car is a car and if your a enthusiast then you will appreciate all of them. unless it's a mustang I can't bring myself to appreciate them but that is my own opinion

Quite a few subtle differences between these and the ones sold in the US. You mentioned the auto AC, overseas was manual AC only. The H22 was available with 4WS in Japan, as well as with an automatic, while the US H22 models were 2WS/manual only. The headlights are also different, with the JDM ones being one big piece while the USDM ones had two separate pieces. You also could get one without a sunroof in Japan while they were standard elsewhere. That red that this one is was also not sold in the US, only Japan and Europe. Also the 4WS H22 on these was the chassis code BB1; the BB8 was the same option package for the 5th gen. Edit: the courtesy lights in the door were also JDM/Euro only, though the 5th gen had them available on certain trims in the US. And you're right about the Cosmo look, I think that's what the styling was a reaction to since it debuted not long after.
@Driiven6 жыл бұрын
The grey upholstery I think was exclusive to non USDM markets as well I believe. Also the Cruise Control button on JDM versions has on & off like the sunroof button, whereas USDM was a single button.
@interstate3666 жыл бұрын
Gobes I’ve seen the grey interior on a couple USDM cars, but I think it was only limited to 92-93 cars with that bluish purple exterior (Fresco Blue I think it was called) as that’s the only color I’ve seen it in. Definitely much rarer than the black and blue interiors though

BB4 and BB1 both have the VTEC engine, only the BB1 has 4WS. I could write a novel about all the differences from USDM and JDM versions of this car.

Same, I used to own one that had a bunch of JDM parts. It was mainly between-the-lines stuff, but it added up to be a lot of differences. I sold it when I picked up a TSX (which I also have since sold). I have a 5th gen now, and the differences between the USDM and JDM aren't as pronounced as the 4th gen was, but there were still quite a few

@@Driivenmine was an S, so yours was still well above it. SOHC F22, one airbag, no ABS, no options, at least until the JDM parts went on. It had black housjng headlights, door visors (which I noticed this car oddly did not have), half mast antenna, and a few other things I can't remember. I also got the climate control but never installed it...looked well beyond my skill level to do that

Still miss my jdm import prelude. Was a bb4 with lsd gearbox in granada black pearl. Had no abs, tc, airbags, 4ws, sunroof or cruise control, so a stripped down version so to speak. Most reliable car I've ever owned, 9 years and never let me down, only ever replaced the rear calipers and rear trailing arm bushs in that time and routine maintenance. Not many left in uk not as cars rust on this wet and windy little island where they cover the roads in salt all winter.

Imported mine about a year ago. 1993 Si VTEC BB1 here. And how dare you; the 4WS is amazing. And btw the VTEC kick isnt too much of a joke, I'd say an extra 30 ft-lb of torque is useful. Crossover is at 5000rpm. 200ps is 197hp and 147kw for the Australians watching. If you want to fix the hood latch you have to loosen the bolts that hold the mechanism in and pull up on it while you bolt it back in. It means the mechanism is sitting too low to catch the hood as it is slightly adjustable. That sunroof is in very good shape. Usually they rust quickly if not looked after. Terrible taillights. OEM or gtfo. They tend to have an annoying sound because morons tend to throw 4 inch cannons and straight pipes on them. A 2.25inch mild steel pipe and it'll sound great. The seats are very comfortable, they were actually made by Recaro :D. I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. Subbed!

I don't mean to get picky but why is this a '91 when I personally own a '91 Prelude and it's the 3rd generation. I would guess than Japan got the 4th generation prelude a bit earlier than we did in America.

And the vtech usually popped in around 5800 RPM.. Seems to be the magic number for most of the 90s vtech motor.. Even my Integra GSR with the B18C3 comes in around 5800. I believe this is for better MPG. When you start to tune motors you lower it. Mild tunes and some aftermarket parts and people have gone down to 4500.. if you strap a super or a turbo I have seen people push the engagement down to the high 3000s. I could be wrong, this is just what I've seen people do

I got a 95 Prelude it's the SR-V model, with V-Tec H22a1 top trim and a 5 Speed Manual Transmission, Heated Black leather seats, power SunRoof, power adjustable seats. I'm gonna be honest with you the value of this car is worth nothing because the original Front, and Rear, bumper was removed and replaced with an oversized useless Bodykit, the original Headlights vents were removed and replaced with unnecessary eyelids, and the orginal Taillights are missing. It may be a true Jdm Prelude but without the original parts it's worth nothing

I would argue that stock Preludes have not appreciated at this point and you won't see a noticeable difference in value between them. Perhaps in 5-10 years the stock ones will be worth more. Also, your car sounds awesome.
