Homologation special FTW! I so wanted one when it was on the market. My first car was a A40 series 1980 Celica Liftback GT with the 20R. Although I had no idea at the time, likely it was a "US Grand Prix" edition. (stealth edit : I am glad to say I always pronounced it correctly ... )

Saw so many of these in New Zealand, awesome cars and the Kiwis kept them in good shape. Also about the RC being only white, I’ve seen them with the factory GT-4 RC stickers still on them (benefit of living under Canada’s 15 year import laws) and I’ve seen all of them so far in black.

I have this engine/ECU combination swapped into my 1994 Celica with a ‘94 WRC spec CT-20b turbo and it’s insane. It’s significantly faster than my Turbo MR2 and hung with a buddy’s TT Soarer (2JZ-GTE). The timing this ECU runs under boost will make you scared but it doesn’t give a fuck.

I remember when I was in high school in 1999 my friend picked one up with 98000 km on it it was not the rc model just the 4wd turbo is what it was called here in Canada he payed 9000$ for it and within 3 months he had to replace the clutch and it cost 4000$ due to the fact they had to pull the whole entire engine out to replace it besides that the 10 speaker sound system was great I wish it was faster considering the 1990 supra turbo didn't cost much more at all with a lot more power and less problems anyways he still owns it and it has less than 200000km on it and he has done quite a few mods to it the last time he had it on the dyno he was making 350hp at the wheels he rarely drives it they are pretty damn heavy I have seen him lose races to sti's and moded eagle talon tsi's and evo x when he is making quite a bit of horse power he has mastered his launch technique but he loves it as well as i do there very rare so he will hold onto it for life I think hope even know he tried to sell it to me back in 2008 for 10000$ and I refused due to the fact I had just bought a Chrysler 300c srt-8

i've been watching some video's from another japan importer and i've noticed that guy runs like a sissy when he sees surface rust or mechanical problems that are inherent in one particular model of car. . Derek on the other hand takes a more educated approach to looking at problems with these cars. The other importer guy would have run from this celica. It's rare-unusual cars like this celica that get my interest and especially so if they can be had for cheap prices.
