This is my all-time favorite Cowboys team. I know they won the next 2 Super Bowls, but l loved Issiac Holt & Jack Del Rio as starters.

Thank you for posting. Such an important game in Cowboy history for the 90s defense. The Eagle defense was a great defense. It was a great feat to just get 12 points against this defense and not give up points.

I saw the game and still think that it was one of the top 20 Dallas games of all time.

This was one of those games that showed how the Cowboys grew from boys to men. The year before in 1990 they had to win ONE GAME out of the next two against the Eagles or Falcons to get a wildcard spot. Well the Eagles defense destroyed the Cowboys offense and Aikman got hurt and their backup Babe Lauffenberg was a dud in that game and lost against the Falcons to miss out of the playoffs. So Jimmy made the correction and got Steve Beuerlein as the backup. When Aikman went down with a sprained knee in the Redskin game, Steve Beuerlein came in and held onto the lead. Then won his next 2 games to get to this point. Even without Randall, the Eagles and Cowboys came down to this game. Whoever won this game would essentially win the playoff spot.

I was 11 years old born and raised in Dallas.... When K Mart returned that punt I was going crazy 🤣 Until then I'd never seen The Cowboys defeat The Eagles much less clinch a playoff spot.

I originally missed this game in 1991. It was not shown on the West Coast. I went to a Charger/Dolphin game that day in San Diego and had to listen to this game on the radio. When Kelvin Martin ran back that punt I went crazy in the stands and the people around me had no idea what my problem was and it was perfectly timed with a commercial timeout.

Soon as they beat the undefeated Redskins in November of that 1991 season, the Cowboys became a force not to be messed with. Beating 3 playoff teams in a row to finish the season.

7 year old me took notice of the Cowboys after they beat the Redskins. I thought no one was going to beat the Redskins and then the Cowboys went for it on 4th down, getting that Hailmary pass, and still scoring when Aikman went down showed that the Cowboys were not the same old team that would just lay down and take a beating.

The scab game. That's where one the first play the Cowboys ran a double reverse to destroy the Scab Eagles. Buddy Ryan took that personally so the very next game Randall Cunningham did a fake spike and threw the ball with the game already in hand. Pass interference called, next play a run and the game was over. That's where the 8 game winning streak where the Cowboys hadn't beaten the Eagles for 4 years started until this 1991 game.

What's funny is the Cowboys got 8 sacks including the first and only 2 linebacker sacks they had for all of 1991 but both of them didn't count in the year-end tally as they were determined to be running plays that Ken Norton Jr. disrupted rather than sacking Kemp. So it was adjusted down to 6 and Dallas didn't get an official linebacker sack until the first play the next season when Vinson Smith sacked Mark Rypien.

I was and still am superstitious about watching games. It's ridiculous I know but seems like if I watch bad things happen to the Cowboys. I had several friends over watching this game and drinking lots of beer. I said I'm leaving. So I walked outside and Terry runs out and says Kelvin Martin just ran a punt back for a touchdown. I told my buddies see what happens when I don't watch !!!

Even though I know our superstitious way of thinking had nothing to do with the outcome. Or does it ?! Those Eagles uniforms were so sharp. Clean distinct lines with the cool Eagle on the cool Eagle on the sleeves. The unis now are grossly ugly in the realm with Seattle.

That play was the beginning of the Cowboys run in the 90s. If you look back at any moment that jumpstarted the Cowboys to bigger and better things, it was that moment right there. Cause from that moment on there was no stopping the Cowboys. Not even the Eagles could stop them.

@@jamiejohnson4524 that's right. I was 15 years old when that game was played. I was so upset. I really thought Philadelphia was going to win. Especially because earlier in the year Philly won 24-0 in Dallas.
