1991 Chicago White Sox season highlights VHS purchased at Soxfest. The '91 Sox thrilled crowded new Comiskey in its inaugural season. The 87-75 record was a sign of things to come for the overachieving squad. The south side stadium drew 2,934,154 fans, an attendance number topped only by the electric crowds in 2006.
Seriously those games from 2006 give me goosebumps just thinking about it. When the Cell/Rate is full, there's genuinely no stadium like it in sports. If you know, you know.

I was one of those fans who was glad the White Sox didn't leave the city. It was worth the wait for 14 years until they won the World Series in 2005.

The Sox 1991 team was a team with a lot of chemistry. This year's team could learn a lot by watching this. Sox a great lineup. The team they had during the strike season was a great team what a shame they were denied a great season.

this is awesome my child hood right here....whole team early 90s were the best in my lifetime....too bad we didnt have the wildcard yet we wouldve won the divison every year back then...hawk and jon rooney were the best miss them

The old Comiskey park was the best, but was falling apart. They had to block off right field bleachers because of falling concrete. New Comiskey was built on the cheap, thanks to Reinsdorf. That's why they had to do all the renovations to make it look ok, now. Still love our home park,just could have been better. Camden Yards in Baltimore, was what we should have gotten. Go Sox!

It wasn't built on the cheap it was actually very expensive for its time (with money paid for by a shady last minute deal with the state government, Reinsdorf's old Northwestern friend who the governor). It wasn't cheap but it was cookie cutter and stale. Right after that retro-inspired ballparks started being built which got a lot better reviews and that's what caught on.

I agree, Comiskey Park was the best. It needed renovation, but it easily could've been performed. The Cubs did it. Reinsdorf built on the cheap. Guaranteed Rate Field is boring, you feel like you're at the shopping mall. There's no character to the park, boring. Jerry should sell the team.

The added attraction at the old park were the characters who were vendors outside the park, very funny, entertaining, all for the price of a $2.00 hot dog or $3.00 beer. It's too upscale inside the new park . No chemistry with the fans in the stands.

Old Comiskey was the best. This park is boring and does not have any character. Reinsdorf could've restored it, chose to have the tax payers buy him a new park.Sell the team Jerry!!!

@@MrZinjanthropusYou need a reality check. Would you prefer the team move to Tampa? The old Comiskey Park was falling apart, going all the way back to Bill Veeck’s days. There was concrete falling off and crumbling in the stands, seats were cramped, column posts are blocking your views in the outfield grandstands, and the bathrooms were terrible. The place was past its prime, and it had to go. Renovating a ballpark like that, would cost more than building a new one. Just because the Cubs and Red Sox were able to renovate, does not mean that the White Sox, and every other team in baseball can do the same thing. That costs lots of $$$, and renovating the old Comiskey, would be the equivalent of putting good into bad, it’s not worth the investment. So, which would you choose? A new (but originally flawed) ballpark next door, or moving out to Tampa? Should be a relatively easy decision.

This park was considered beautiful in 1991. Then Camden Yards opened in 1992 and Jacobs field in 1994 and everyone looked at the new Comiskey as a mistake.

If any of you or your kids play MLB the show, the new game coming last week of March has the old Comiskey Park as a classic ball park option as well as the southside park they played at before back in the negro leagues before Comiskey! Looks awesome

They had to make so many changes to that place. They never thought out the design before they built it. One of the worst parks in baseball

New Comiskey was based on the design by HOK that was going to be built in Addison,Illinois. It was modified to go in at 35th. Ironically, HOK designed Camden Yards. I’m sure if HOK could have put together a new design for the South Side site at 35th, the new park would have been totally different.

I diagree. The park looks like a shopping mall. There is nothing exceptional about GRF that you would make you think about Chicago. It's a sterile place to see a game.

I have been a fan of the Sox since 1959, but they have been woefully mediocre, disappointing fans year after year. The new park and the name "Guaranteed Rate Field" are appropriately dull.

@@MrZinjanthropus Jerry Reinsdorf is a geezer who won't be around much longer. My hope is that once he's dead a better ownership will emerge and take them to a world series. A more serious problem is related to the new rule changes that could be ruining major league baseball.
