I have the same car as you about same milage. Under driver side intake check the vacuum tubes that get forgotten and if hose not attached then hunting occurs. Two short tubes for small hoses. One goes to inside cabin. I just capped it but will connect in future.
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! I believe the vacuum hose that goes to the cabin is only on cars without automatic climate control. My car has the automatic controls and doesn't have a hose going into the cabin.
@williamlesher5111
@williamlesher5111 2 жыл бұрын
@@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec there is another small nozzle for a hose in the same location. I plugged the cabin hose nozzle since I couldn’t find where it would go into the cabin. It has an auto control for temp.

@@williamlesher5111 That's interesting. I made a video showing the ports on the intake manifold, can you look at the video and see if you can identify the port?

@@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec Thank you so much for your quick reply! I'm restoring my E32 too and your videos have been so useful. Those videos related to vacuum leaks or intake manifold explanation are awesome. Long life to your E32! Thanks!

Have you suspected the AFM? I bought a used previously rebuilt AFM for my 1986 L7 which would be the M30B34. I wanted to send the used unit out for refurbishment however I decided to swap it with the original AFM just to see what happened. I was surprised to find the used AFM helped to smooth my idle. I suspect it needs fine tuning so I will still have it refurbished. Prior to this I replaced all fuel system delivery components, all electrical delivery except alternator. I also replaced all rubber vacuum hoses.

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot to mention in the video that I tried swapping the AFM for a unit out of a 535i, with the same result. But it's possible that that unit is not calibrated correctly too, all the parts are old at this point. I should look at remanufactured units because it would rule it out. (although my wallet is already screaming at the thought!)

Hi, just an idea, don't know if you have tried. While the engine is idling, if you hold the throttle arm against the throttle body stop and keep it held there for some time, do the idle revs still fluctuate? This would rule out you throttle cable/linkages/cruise control.
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec 2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the suggestion. Can you elaborate a bit? Do you mean just applying pressure to remove slack, or increasing the revs just so the TPS switch disengages?
@thespiderkelly9589
@thespiderkelly9589 2 жыл бұрын
I just meant taking up the slack. I was not at the car when i wrote the previous message, I have just checked with my own m30. I forgot about the throttle position switch and the heavy spring for the throttle plate. Please disregard my previous message as I see now that due to the force of the throttle spring the throttle plate could never move unintentionally.

Sorry if I missed it in the video, but did you buy shorter front springs? To lower the front end? Thank you and excellent work as per usual
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Resq28, yep I bought Eibach lowering springs for the front only. The part number is EW 2016001 VA. The springs lower the car about 1 to 1.25 inches. They will make the ride a bit firmer but with new OE Sachs shocks it should still be comfortable.
