I currently own 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva, literal Grandma car with only 89k miles. Still get used around town weekly. 100% rust free California car. 3.1 V6. Looks new but very dated and weird, and I love driving it.

My home room teacher had one exactly like this. She had a toucan nose and we used to joke that she bought a car too match! Nice find!

My wife & I owned a 1992 Buick Skylark Sedan & we had it for a long time. It was a great car to go to & from work.

They also had an Oldsmobile version the Achiva my cousin had one of those in the same color as this as her first car it was a 1992. Definitely wasn't a pretty car but for a 16yr old at the time it was fantastic to be able to drive

Hey Bob, when these Skylarks came out in the nineties I thought that they were butt ugly!!! Now I rarely see one & I think of them as unique. Watching you careening down the road in this interesting Buick really put a smile on my face!!! Thanks for sharing this fun video!!! 👍👍🙂

In 2012 I happen to have bought an A-body 1993 Buick Century with the same eingine and apporiximate mileage and so far I like it a lot. The engine is quiet, smooth, and the torque it has maxes out at a low rpm so it makes for a low stress take off from a stop light. These engines also do pretty well at 60 to 80 miles per hour. They can be driven briskly and used assertively on road trips. Another interesting aspect of the Buick Century is its handling. The limited edition is fitted with smaller 205 14" tires, but it handles really well on the road. The steering is composed unlike what is portrayed in many instances. This Century's ride is not floaty. The influence of Dyna-ride, a term marketed by Buick in the 90s, must have trickled down across all of their vehicles lines. For instance, at higher highways speeds the steering is responsive and when driven on off ramps onto clover leafs it is satisfying how composed and level the vehicles remains and how easy it is to track it with the steering wheel. In the early nineties, GM did decide to downsize car in each size segment, but in the development of these cars, the massive duplication of styling and usage of similar engines gave them time to refine their manufacturing processes.

Good evening, from Florida, Bob! It is content like this, I use as the basis for my opinion of your true character, the last time you sat in the Vin Wiki Big Chair. As always, you never disappoint.

Hey Bob, if you take micro fiber cloth and saturate a corner with some WD-40 or WD-40 Silicone Spray rub the inside of the window track and it will help the window go up and down much better. I think the little angry bird is really cool 👍

Drove a lot of these while working for Avis in Boston back in the early-mid 1990's. This is a unicorn....wicked low miles and looks great too. Weird color combo. Reminds me of Avis colors back then. Haha.

I love this car. My mom had a 92 black sedan. Unfortunately it has a very slow 4 banger. But it was a great lil car. I remember the 96 models had hold badges for the 96 Olympics held in Atlanta.

I never found these to be ugly at all! I remember seeing a two tone green metallic and silver bottom coupe one in a local Buick dealer's showroom back in the day and instantly loved it. It's unique looking.

Very nice!! I always liked these and the Acheivas. But where i'm from them Grand Ams were EVERYWHERE! They must've outsold the Skylark and Acheiva combined.

It looks like this has taken some inspiration from the 90s Suzuki Swift... With some design elements both outside and inside of it reminding of that car...
@bigalsbikeandauto2 жыл бұрын
The quality of these early 90s GMs was on par with the Japanese aside from some interior finishes. It was at this point that GM took the threat of the imports seriously and pumped out some great cars. The 3300 is indestructible and peppy.

For sure not, more in par with the South-Korean!
@umtozzi9 ай бұрын
The reliability was on par because they were obsessed with consumer reports, and the like not giving them black circles. But performance wise, the Japanese and Germans still blew them away.

A solid buy at $8K. throw classic car plates as a flex on your new to you Buick and go A to B

If I had a big barn/storage building and $$$$ to burn I'd definitely snap this up. Yes its hideous, but so much fun in a kitsch sort of way. Plus you gotta admire Buick designers for actually taking a risk, all their cars after this were non-descript blobs on wheels.

I think you should leave that front off-center license plate (4:27) as is, put a plate on it. That is a unique feature very rarely found on cars, definitely not these days. I think the early 1990s Cavaliers also had off center front plate, as well as the Mitsubishi Evolution. There may be more models, but its very rare and unique. Yes agree it looks weird, but originality counts here.
