The grounding stud on the engine block has a torx head on the end which allows you to hold the stud in place while unscrewing the nut. That grounding stud has a shoulder in the center to stop it from going into the engine block any further. It's important to unscrew the nut while holding the stud still. Don't try to hold the nut still while turning the stud, because that will just break the stud.

@TavisKingsChannel, you are a life saver! I had that nut broken loose but the wires kept wanting to spin with them. It was too dark for me to realize the whole stud was actually spinning. Once I read your comment I took another look at it with light and saw that torx head on the stud. Had to buy some external torx sockets but once I had the right tools in there it took almost no force to brake the right connection loose. After 10 months of sitting idle my YJ is finally alive again! Thank you for your help in this process
