My grandfather owned Lil ET What an amazing day for us… always love watching this. My grandad came from humble beginnings in rural southern Arkansas. This was a dream come true for him.

Not only did Pat Day make derby history on the Derby 1992, I met my husband that day. My dad asked me to go place a bet for him and put the money on Pat Day. I really didn't want to go, but I did. Who knew my husband would be there. Thanks Dad!!!

Arazi never fulfilled the promise of his BCJ victory. That's still one of the most memorable performances I've seen in appx. 40 years of watching thoroughbred racing. In fact, I've never seen anything like it.

I remember that day too. There was so much Arazi talk. My sister bet him...I bet Pistols and Roses but when Pat Day delivered that on 'Tee I was silenced as well as all the people who couldn't beleive Arazi wilted. Good horse among many in the 91-92-93 seasons.

You know even though he only owned two horses of note, M.C. Hammer I'd say had a fairly good go at Churchill Downs two big events. He won the Oaks in 1991 with Lite Light, then finished third in the 1992 Derby with Dance Floor.

give him credit, Arazi did make his move. just did wayyy tooo early. i was absolutely crushed when i saw this back in 92. i was 11 at the time. but Arazi would always be one of my favorites.

Was on Millionaires Row that day. I lost a small fortune on this race. Believed all the hype and bet Arazi BIG. When I tell the story, I have always said that my horse never got a call. This video proves otherwise. He actually had a shot coming around the final turn. I quit betting sports because of this race.....probably turned out to be a good thing!

Arazi certainly came with menacing rush in the Juvenile!

How much would A P Indy have buried this bunch by? The final time this group posted in the '92 derby was 2:04. When Indy won the BC Classic later the same year, at the same distance, he stoped the clock in 2:00:1/5. That's almost 20 lengths difference, as per the wisdom of 1 length per 1/5th of a second. Indy would have dominated this substandard crew.

Arazi was never the same after he had surgery on both knees after BC junevile. I'm surprised so many bet him up. You can be out 5 months then have one race on turf and expect to win the Derby. He wasn't fit and like I said before was never the same after his operation

Arazi was never the same after his knee surgury. I think his career would have turned out different if he didnt need surgury and had stayed in the U.S.

I don't know if arthroscopic surgery cost Arazi the race, perhaps he was really was miler, but it was unrealistic and unfair to have brought him back so soon after double knee surgery and expect him to win. When an athlete, like a basketball player has arthroscopic surgery they say they need at least a year to come back all the way.

I think so too but he didnt have the proper seasoning he needed. they should have kept him in the U.S. At least he made a good showing and gave everyone a good scare. He just made his move way too early, he started his run shortly after they hit the back stretch. the jockey said he never asked him to run he did it on his own.

I agree 100%, he was a miler with only one prep, and had surgery during the off-season. The media built him into something that was impossible to live up to. By the way, Durkin's call during the Juvenile has to be the best ever.

Arazi may have had a better chance had he prepped in the USA. Some have it and some don’t. Perhaps the knee surgery did something but I doubt it. He didn’t prep properly for the race.

Cant compare the two because it's 2 different tracks into two different climates. A P Indy probably could have won had he not got injured the morning of the race we dont know. its just strange how favorites cant seem to win the derby. lately its not even the best horse who wins the derby, its the one gets the best trip
