This was my 12 year old year of little league.When I saw this game I was picturing myself playing.I remember watching this game with my dad and brother and they were both saying that these kids from the Philippines look a little old for 12 year olds.And then it happened.
@saviorself1164 Жыл бұрын
I was also 12 at the time. I had the Trumbull, Connecticut LLWS win over Chinese Taipei on VHS and I watched it all the time. That game stands out to me because the pitcher for Trumbull was Chris Drury who went on to be a Hall of Famer... in the NHL. Anyway, your dad had a point because these kids actually looked 12. Asians look 12 at 25 so, the fact that they actually looked 12 was a huge red flag. I don't think any of them were young enough to play in this tournament

I actually played with a few of these dudes on a softball team from the Philippines here in the LA area. While they were definitely too old to play in this series, and by a significant amount, these dudes could smash years later.

some of the players on the Philippines look like they are 18 plus. Trust me, I grew up there. Definitely not 12. Also, they took players from all over the country and not one district (Zamboanga). A lot of the players were also from Manila. The ump didn't help here either. First batter was out on strikes.
@judicator13 жыл бұрын
Actually all of them are from Zamboanga the problem is, some of the players there are not 12 and yes that is correct. I remember when I was a kid there was a journalism documentary show explaining how it was discovered. So after they returned back here in the Philippines, some of them actually tried to burglar a house in Zamboanga. Ofcourse they were caught, they asked for their ID at the police station. So the police noticed they are some of the players of the little league and was surprised the age range were 11-18 years old. So they made an investigation and found out that I think almost half of the team were a mixture of beyond 12 years of age and that is how they were found. If my memory remembers it correctly
@judicator13 жыл бұрын
Also 1st one a strike, 2nd and 3rd ball. 4th and 5th foul. Last 2 pitches are ball since its in the shoulders area.
@judicator13 жыл бұрын
@Luke E nope all from Zamboanga city. The southern part of the Philippines. The age were correct

@@judicator1 interesting story on the burglary ... however , I played baseball in a league there in Manila and some of the players on the World Series team were in the league above me (older).
@ianmanners80162 жыл бұрын
@@judicator1 None of the players or coaches were eligible. Only 8 of the players were inside there district and all 8 of those players were overage as was every other player on the team. I won’t even mention the identity fraud that had to take place for this to be possible

Man this was such an amazing mismatch but it’s adults that kill little league baseball to take advantage of in most cases extremely poor and disadvantage country for what a million Philippine Peso that’s unbelievable now I’m not saying the kids aren’t wrong as well but the officials are even worse.

13:18 This particular cheater, hitting the victim's pitch out, is *not* from Zamboanga City instead he was recruited from another city over 700 miles in distance from the Little League Team he pretends to represent. Watching this grotesque spectacle and charade unfold is stomach-turning.

Taiwan replaced 8 of their players with players who lived far away from the district, saying that their original players couldn’t travel, but that was of course a lie. The Mayor of the City in Philippines gave a million peso award to the families of the players, when the original 8 players families heard about this, they revealed the fraud. Taiwan did not learn their lesson because in the 1993 Far East region tournament in which the winner goes to LLWS it was found out that they again violated age requirements as did the other 3 of the top 4 finishers, China, South Korea and Japan, so the 5th place finisher Saipan went to the 1993 LLWS tournament.

It is too bad that baseball is not played in the Philippines. There could be many playing MLB now. Instead the Philippines embrace basketball where height is important and not something Filipinos have.
@kaipokine972 жыл бұрын
So?? Start a league ? Play baseball. They chose basketball because your government supports it? And loved American basketball. How about anything else? Whose idea was it to allow professional basketball in the Philippines when the people are so called short?

And obviously baseball is played your 14,15,18 year olds beat an awesome usa team Long Beach 11-12 yea olds. Actually clobbered them. Regardless of how much older they were still very great baseball players!!! So why didn’t they continue to become MLB players? USA has players in MLB all over the world regardless of age?? It’s now professional leagues
@canadiansuisei-fan841 Жыл бұрын
You would think the Phillipines would be a hot bed for baseball. The Philippines has alot of similarities with other former Spanish colones like the Dominican & Venezuala(eg. Climate) and has alot of American influence like Japan & Korea. Fillipino’s typically are fast athletes and would do very well in baseball
