1992 LPBT Columbia 300 Delaware Open Entire Telecast

Holiday Lanes in Claymont, Delaware hosts the opening telecast from the fall 1992 swing. In the opening match, 5th seeded Jan Schmidt takes on 4th seeded Debbie McMullen. The winner of the opening match takes on the winner of the 1991 WIBC Queens event Dede Davidson. The winner of the second match faces a two time US Open champ Dana Miller-Mackie. The winner of the semifinal match takes on the 1989 WIBC Queens champ Carol Gianotti! Happy viewing!

If my memory serves correct, when ESPN did the LBPT/PBA tour in the 90's; the LPBT events were generally Wednesday night and the PBA events were Saturday nights?

It varied. Some of the summer and fall tour events were aired during the week

@@irishpogi Ah ok. I do recall some of the PBA summer events were Wednesday or Friday nights. And when NBC did the Fall Tour, they stuck to Saturday afternoons.

Dana Miller-Mackie's husband Steve was a great champion in Australia during the 1960s and 70s. Ended up working for AMF as probably Australia's all time greatest bowling promoter and commentator. No coincidence that bowling Down Under struggled bigtime after he went to live in the States.

No doubt! Steve and his wife Dana run a first class bowling center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Ten Pins and More is the name of the center. It hosts the popular scratch tournament the New Mexico Open. Visiting Steve's bowling center is on my bucket list.

@@irishpogi both wonderful people. Steve became a born again Christian in the late 1980s around the time he married Dana. They both still resided in Australia for some years after marrying. Would've been around about 1998/99 that they moved back to America.

Great upload. Shame the ladies in the first match didn't get some decent coaching. Maybe they did and just didn't want to hear it, which is often the case. As a touring pro, any deficit in your physical game can translate into money lost, and in my opinion, should be ironed out. Of course, a number of pros with nearly flawless approaches never seemed to reach the peak (Cliff McNealy and Frank Ellenberg come to mind), while others with glaring faults seemed to cash regularly. Which reminds me, I need to say Hello to Virginia Norton next time I'm able to get down to Westminster Lanes whenever it reopens.

Whatever happened to Cliff McNealy anyway? Rookie Of The Year wasn't he? Around '74. Made 11 TV shows, runner up three times and one PBA title between 1975-1979 - then simply disappeared off the Tour.

You have to factor in that this was Debbie's third ever TV appearance and Jan's first appearance in a while. Prior to this, Jan has not appeared on national TV much. You always have to consider how nervous they were. The playing conditions were extremely demanding. As the telecast ensues, you can see how the veterans like Dede and Dana handled the conditions.

@@Igloo3471 Cliff McNealy was from up in northern California, and I saw him bowl a number of regionals and PCB events in the 1970s. He was fantastic, everything in order. I just never understood the reason he never took off like a rocket.

@@20alphabet Great deep inside shooter. Was great on 4th, 5th arrow with plastic in the 70s when only a select few could ever play that deep. Tall, strong guy with a deep knee bend, came from San Lorenzo 👍
