Old video, I know. But that piston slap was brutal and I have never heard another redblock engine sound worse. Being Swedish I've been around hundreds of these redblocks since young age. Great thing is that you can swap the engine out (or rebuild it) for low costs.

Yes, I don't know whether the owner didn't know what it was and thought it was just normal engine noise or if he was just pretending that it sounded good but that piston slap was brutal!

That 740 Turbo wagon is in A/1 condition,☝️👌👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻especially for a 1992 and especially a New York car, where the roads have to have salt on them for winter.

I had 2 of these on my time I actually built my whole house with one of them. I should have never sold them. Both suffered from piston slap. One time while changing the oil a large piece of bolt fell in the oil catch. That was my cue to sell it. This was like 20 years ago. Second didn't have anything in the oil but the piston slap was bad too. I was second or third owner on all of them. So they get beat up by first owners that give it to their kids for college. At the time I didn't know how to work on motors. I have a 960 now but I know how to fix motors now. Still I don't kmow if I should sell it. Is on the driveway without use. The wife has a mercedes wagon and I have a little 4 cylinder I commute long distances. Is our just in case car.

Same car, 940 and 740 are basically like the 850 and V70, same chassis

The Grill / headlamps gives it away, this is a later 740 model you can tell from the interior, dash etc which carried over to 900 series

Good video but same mistake alot of video's make if your car has a seat belt warning sound put the belt in so that ping ping sound is not drowning out the person talking 🙉

@@bobjohnson205 yeah these engines go for about 300 dollars or less and you can easily swap it in the driveway at home so total around 500-700 dollars to get everything sorted. Such an easy job I have done it twice on different cars

It is a red block, maybe piston slap, maybe valve hushers, either way, I would not worry about it at all as it will probably do millions of miles just like that. I have some red blocks that do this, some that do not, nicer when they don't, but really not an issue

17k he'll to the hell no lol way to over price 🤣 I would have payed maybe between 4 and 6k nothing more . And I tell you why that knock is deep very deep . The engine may have to be rebuilt or just replace and that will decrease the value of that car by 50% . Sorry to say but you sir got ripped off . The body is great and it was garaged but that price is ridiculously way too high

very typical....there is half a gallon of Plasti Shine on every single piece of plastic in and on that car. There's about 2 kilo's of turtlewax on there and yet the engine sounds completely worn. Either bottom end or pistons literally rattling around in the bores, hard to tell from a video. This is one classic overpolished Turd. The weird part is, this is normally done to sell the car to some unsuspecting buyer, but you seem to do it to fool yourself or something...
