what a great time for racing and what a great series...I was just a kid and did not know that this and CART would soon be gone forever....this was good stuff...just look at how many factory cars were involved in these 10 or 12 years of super competitive IMSA racing!!!! good times....

Same here. I just turned 41. My step dad took me to this race and the Long Beach GP both in 92 and 93. I remember how awesome these cars were but had no idea how lucky I was to experience them. I still go to Long Beach GP but modern Indy is a joke. The racing is good but the cars don't excite me at all. Modern IMSA is alright but nothing like early 90s GTP. I'm glad they have the historic races so I can still enjoy these cars, though they're not being pushed like they used to.

Camel GT series was perfect. Great cars, without the 6,12,or 24 hr investment.

what a weekend it was! alan weaver runs down the sound stand- starting a big controversy- was it intentional? sound levels were the big issue, as well as the eventual undoing of this great event. race stewards moved around the GTO/GTS pits in the pavilion, preventing teams from running their engines after hours (how else can you get your car ready??) and trying to keep noise to a minimum. funny how the sound rules didn't seem to apply to the nissan/cunningham team. money helps win races and influences people, and you could see that at an IMSA Camel GT event.
