why isn't this shit more popular? it looks so fun, intense and lots of speed.
@TacticalTerry2 жыл бұрын
Part of it might be environmental regulations against 2 stroke marine engines like these jet skis had. With those engines, I understand that a little oil is ejected from the exhaust and ends up being mixed in with the surrounding water.
@MrCwatson32 жыл бұрын
@@TacticalTerry I appreciate the reply lol. Atleast someone did after a year. But wave race 64 was my childhood and I'd always wondered why I never saw more of this as a kid. It feels like an extreme sport just like skateboarding, BMX, surfing, you name it. It needs a resurgence with 4 stroke engines if that's the case.
@TacticalTerry2 жыл бұрын
@@MrCwatson3 I hear you. Apparently they have Freestyle events as recent as 2021 (that I didn't know about) with these stand-up jet skis. It would be nice to see Red Bull, Maui Rum, or maybe Costa sponsor more events with these types of machines. Nostalgia hits hard when looking at these old event videos and thinking of the game. Yamaha Superjet and Kawasaki SX-R are two 4-stroke options that hope to reinvigorate the stand-up/stand-on (not sure of the terminology) market.

The Good old days, thanks for sharing these vids Jeff back when it was on a Vhs camcorder, the 750s just came out and the sport was on fire peaking and gettin bigger, I qualified for the world finals in 93 and was un Abel to race because of a broken foot in high school football. I liked victor Sheldon back then and remember his melt down in this race the jammer is a legend of the sport, same with Chris the kid Mac attack and the flyin fish. I remember when all you guys bleached your hair and Nicholas Rius came out of no where. We did nit like Nicholas back then but the ladies loved him and his French speaking ass lol. then about 10 years later I worked in Vegas with Harry goatcher at a jet ski dealership, the run about class got big and the bigger it got the more the sport died, just wanted to say thanks for sharing Jeff and you were a god to me when I was young lol. 10 world championships I guess you are and always will be a god of the sport. the smoothest jet skier I ever seen. hot summer nights were Litt. The sport peaked in 1993, and then a rather steep decline after that. Sit downs, aka sea sofas, were selling 10 to 1 over stand ups. So the manufacturers wanted sea sofa racing to push sales, but it makes for ridiculous stupid racing, and people lost interest. Then when Budweiser pulled themselves out of being the big national tour title sponsor, the sport was dead and the national tour was done. And add insult to injury, places to ride and practice shriveled up as lakes banned dirty 2 stroke motors. Now that we’re finally getting clean 4 stroke stand ups and with much more horsepower, the sport has a promising chance to make a come back. It might take 10 to 20 years, but I actually think the sport will return to its 1993 peak and surpass it.
@dirtrider883 жыл бұрын
