This is probably one of the finest instruments that Casavant has ever built, out of the thousands that they've built. This is one of the best marriages between organ and room, as well, because in most other places those 102 ranks would scream instead of sing. One could easily spend days just playing with all the different sound combinations, all of which would sound amazing; there's next to nothing that doesn't work with everything else in equal measure.

This organ is perfect in every way. I do not think I have heard such glorious reeds (Especially the En Chamades.) and Diapason tone, but what is really tremendous is that flute celeste just absolutely mystical. I would love to hear this organ in real life.

One of those perfect organs, then a perfect room with all those mutations and the variety of sound in the French flare. This would be an outstanding organ especially the late works of Messiaen

Jan Kraybill is the most capable and easily the best American organist. She has every reason to be snobby, conceited, or arrogant. She is anything but snobby, conceited, or arrogant. Thank you, Jan.

The only other example of a manual 32’ I have seen before is on the Wannamaker Organ. As Jan demonstrated it, surprisingly effective!

Manual 32s are more common/handy in French Symphonic instruments. Quite handy for grounding the manuals for all those big higher pitched chords.

Jan Crill is utterly delightful! Very charming and a great communicator. Also a wonderful organist. This Casavant is from what I consider their finest era. Just 3 years later they finished the 200+ rank instrument for my former professor Al Travis at Broadway Baptist in Ft Worth, TX. Van Cliburn was a church member and led the fund raising campaign for them. This is a very beautiful instrument! Thank you for sharing it with us.

I had the opportunity to listen to this organ in 2000. I was at a convention that spent a day at the (then) RLDS Temple. Our speaker for the plenum was Fr. Paul Turner (current pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cathedral in KC). As we came in from the busses, someone was at the console playing. As we got closer to the start time, the music volume was pushed up. It was Fr. Paul himself. That organ has a very lovely sound when you're in the congregation. Thanks for doing this.

I have service pipe organs since 1975. Many of them were Casavants, and Casavant's of this period. They hit on a design trope for their facades which can be used over and over, and fit in a number of architectural styled buildings. Their workman ship is great, but I find their sound to be too much the same. Be it a large or small organ, they seem almost as generic as an Allen or Rogers. A two manual organ will have three 8 flutes which look different, but basically sound the same. Just a small critique. My favorite organs are their early 20th century French styled instruments, and their early-mid 50s instruments which work well with supporting choral music.

What a brilliant instrument all around - a little of something for everyone! I just wish more instruments would have a variety of aliquots especially the seventh and flat ninth. Very useful for solo features but the 7th added to a Scharf can create a Septime Mixture. Very useful when there is a complicated contrapuntal line - even in Bach. These stops also do not take up much space in the case. I was surprised that there are only 2 "Strings". You really do not need to have them with all of the other options. I do get mighty tired of American Organs that are smallish and have 6 strings and their célestes. A total waste when two will do nicely.
