My mother bought a 94 Chrysler concorde used in 1998. Kept it until her death in 2016. She said it was her favorite car ever. It was rock solid until 2005 at 130,000 miles then became a total nightmare mechanically. My mother spent thousands in repairs on it. She loved it. I did too. Also it's infinity sound system was amazing. Its white with blue leather interior. 207,000 miles

I'm impressed how clean AND functional that 93 is, naturally haven't seen one of those in a long long time!

Wow !!! That has to be the cleanest 1st gen in existence. ES and red with the gold wheels, this was THE one to have in 1993. We are the same age I’m 39 as well and my dad bought one of these brand new in 93 but it was a base, I wanted that ES model so bad but we had the 3.3 and the hubcaps it was black. In 96 he traded the base in for a 96 mid level trim it was that awesome 90’s green colour and had the funky wheels with the small hub caps but was also a 3.3. When I graduated high school that car became mine and i got rid of it at 400,000kms (Canada), I even drove it to the scrap yard. Both our 1gens were dead reliable. Great find and congrats on the purchase! This made my day.

Beautiful!!! The rims are perfect! I have a 94 Intrepid ES, fully loaded. Leather seats, premium stereo w CD player (that NEVER skips), over head computer, automatic off headlights. fog lights and a Mopar rear spoiler. I shaved ALL the trim, painted it Deep jet black with to big GOLD rally stripes from front end to rear. Came out great. She's named, "Black Sunshine". Everything except the sunroof that came in 96-97. And I don't have the cop suspension unfortunately. But the ride is amazing. Never drive with only one cooling fan working! I overheated it 10 years ago, messed up the fuel injection wires and the shop screwed it up even more. Stay away from the shop near the Orange Circle, in Orange, California with the Christian fish symbol above their name! It needs a motor. I'm gonna do it, I don't care. Love my car! Next is dual exhaust with better mufflers (not too loud though), I'm trying to lower it but there's no more lowering springs on the market (dammit), re polish or recoat the rims. All the speakers need replacing, just how it goes.

What a find. Drive it in good health. Also change the ancient tires ... and the coolant to keep that water pump happy.
@regalgs51 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Do you have any other maintenance tips? I haven’t changed any of the fluids, at least not yet. The previous owner changed the oil regularly and told me that he changed the coolant about five years ago. The transmission fluid has not been changed. It was always kept covered in a garage, was barely driven, and he kept meticulous care of it. It does not have the original battery. He kept it on a trickle charger. Yes, the car is 30 years old but it only has 15,000 miles on the odometer right now. I don’t know if I should take it to my local Dodge dealership and have them change any fluids or just leave it be. Any tips would be appreciated.
@timbullough3513 Жыл бұрын
@regalgs51 yes, due to the water pump being deep in the valley of the Chrysler 3.5 V6 and it being a big expensive job to replace ... changing the coolant every 4-5 years should help keep the water pump seals from failing... and leading to oil and water mixing catastrophe. They also use a rubber timing belt that could degrade over time. At some point maybe its worth doing a pro active timing belt and water pump (since both pretty much involve the other on this engine) just for total peace of mind? With a cheap hand pump from Walmart or auto parts store can change steering and brake fluid too. All fluids break down over time ... and clean new fluid keeps the seals from leaking etc. Awesome car and style.

This car is beautiful. For the 95 model year they added little ridges to the inside of the headlight lenses to help the light to disperse better cause people were complaining about the poor performance of the 93-94 lights. I also have a nostalgic attachment to these cars. My parents bought a used 95 base model 3.3L Intrepid in December of 95. It was white with the front bench seat. In 2004 it became my car and i drove it till 2013 when i had to sell it. I moded the hell out of that car when I had it. I Swapped the dash wire harness from an ES adding automatic climate control, automatic headlights, the OTIS computer, Keyless entry, And the Infiniti sound system. I also swapped the front bucket seats from a second gen, and converted it to floor shift. I spent a lot of time at the junk yard finding parts to upgrade my car with.

An old friend of mine named Tara had a beige '93 Intrepid ES when we were in high school back in the late 2000s. She drove the car from 2007 to 2015. It was originally her mother's car when she bought it brand new in Canoga Park, California during Spring of 1993. At that time, Tara was just a toddler. In 2007, Tara started driving the Intrepid as soon as she got her license. In 2015, the car was scrapped due to severe unrepairable rust issues. The rocker panels and fuel lines were completely rusted out. The car was never garage kept and it was always out in the California sun. Tara had 22 years of memories with the Intrepid and she hated to let the car go.

I used to rent these often back in the nineties (Chrysler Concorde as well) … they were awesome cars for the time … huge compared to the Taurus and Lumina. This particular car is a museum piece … take good care of it!!!

the only problem with having low mileage cars from this era are the ghost problems that arise because the car wasn't driven a lot. mainly sensors that aren't used to being in use for extended periods. mom just gave me her 99 300m with 75K on the clock. my car spent 25 years in a garage in arizona. when i started driving it these phantom issues would come up. eventually just putting miles on it the issues would iron themselves out. the pcm went bad on it a month after id been driving it almost everyday. a new pcm and 3,000 miles later and all is good....knock on wood lol. thanks for showing another 90s chrysler corp survivor. on another note you may want to think about getting the timing belt and water pump replaced. even though they are low mileage they do become dried out with time. and the drive belts too. just my 2 cents.

These cars were as common as dirt when I was growing up. They were roomy, comfortable, sporty looking, and still attractive to this day. Unfortunately these cars were plagued with transmission issues and most were just driven into the ground and crushed. Great find!

You should see if one of the big KZbin guys want to review it. I had a 93 ES 3.5 in Water Blue-it was a tank in the snow. Miss that car every time winter rolls around. The seats were the most comfortable I’ve ever owned-besides the useless front headrests.
@regalgs51 Жыл бұрын
I wish I could set that up! I don’t know how. Plus the big guys, I’m assuming, are all far away from me (I’m in northern Indiana). I totally agree with you on the headrests - they’re useless! I live in Kokomo. But i had a 94 Intrepid. Dark green. Great cars and the 3.5 litre V6 would get up and go. But I love this body style more than the ugly version they made in the 2000s. The first Intrepid was a beautiful and great car.
@regalgs51 Жыл бұрын
Very nice! Was it a base model or ES? I love the way the 3.5 liter sounds on startup and the exhaust note.
