The same treatment was handed to me by my ex-husband and the woman he left me for. To me my priorities were my children and our family life. It had to remain happy and intact for the sake of those precious kids. I took the high road throughout the whole long nightmare. Fast forward over 20 years and life is so good. My children are adults now with children of their own. We are happy and thriving. Do not sink into the crazy revenge world Betty did. Think of your kids first, last always.

I'm sure it was difficult for you but you made the right choice, using your head instead of delving into revenge and bitterness which would have ended up harming you and the children. Betty Broderick did not take the high road, she wanted to make Dan pay for his betrayal of her and she did, but she is now paying for it in prison. In her selfishness to exact revenge on Dan she left her children without the guidance of either parent, and yet, she still shows no remorse for killing Dan and Linda because she feels they deserved to die for what they had done to her.😢

Betty was apparently known for referring to Dan as "the faggot" & being very toxic towards him prior to him leaving her. Their own mutual friends were on record attesting to this. I understand your right to express your own hurt from your situation, but it may not be totally fair to Dan to portray him as the villain simply for leaving Betty. He's not here to tell his side today.

I was in my twenties when this came out, I remember how scary it was to see what happened. I had 4 kiddos and worried about getting dumped when I got older. Which did happen. But I would never kill my ex. Moved on remarried, happy with my husband and my ex lives in squaller. His now wife ignores him & he is truly unhappy. Sometimes Karma comes back. I think Linda would have gotten sick of Dan. Betty lived a good life without Dan. I just don’t like the way ALL of Dan’s friends stuck up for him. They knew he was sleeping around. Both lost their lives and the kids have struggled. Sad all around. Great, great video👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

People make CHOICES. She CHOSE to punish EVERYONE for what happened to HER. She left 1 daughter with a lifetime of guilt using her key to get into Dan's house to kill him. I would never condone murder but I can recognise when someone tries to break a person and totally destroy them in every single area. She needed emotional help or a good friend to listen and help her. Dan wanted to have a brand new life for himself. He wasn't even thinking about Betty's sacrifices with the children and work to help him become the lawyer that he was. This is happening a lot. I have seen every documentary that I can find on this case, and in my opinion this is the best one of them all. It has home movies from inside the Broderick house, unseen photographs of Betty, Dan, and the family, and an interview with Betty herself. I’ve never been able to find this episode on the internet, so I uploaded it because I knew there would be people who would love to see it. The MOST elusive show/documentary that I have always wanted to see and that I’ve searched for for years is the episode of 20/20 from roughly 1991. I even wrote multiple emails, wrote letters, and called the “contact us” number for 20/20 to no avail! Thanks.

I've always felt a little sorry for Betty. I honestly think her ex husband drove her to bat shat crazyness. That doesn't mean I think anyone deserved to have their lives taken for being a douche. Had Mr. Broderick moved out asked for a divorce and split everything down the middle fairly I don't believe this tragedy would have ever happened. Mr. Broderick asked his wife to sacrifice in order to meet his goals and Betty complied because it would benefit the family as a whole. Then Mr. Broderick gets what he wants and kicks his wife to the curve. Rubs her face in it. Anyone in that position would have at the very least wanted to retaliate. I don't think I'm capable of taking a life but I've never been that screwed over by someone I loved and lived to help. The only innocents in this story are the girlfriend and the children. I feel sorry for Betty. I certainly know it takes two to tango and she is certainly no saint. Now I certainly don't think murder was the answer. I don't believe anyone should take a life unless in self defense and you fear for your own life. I do believe that Betty "lost it". I do think she was mentally abused by Dan. I don't think Dan was the nice guy like some want to have you think. First, he should have kept it in his pants, and second, Linda should NOT have been messing around with a married man. That speaks volumes about Linda and knowing he was married with 4 children. I do believe Linda was not good to Betty and being the young immature age Linda was - yeah I can see her sending those nasty things to Betty. So you had a woman here "Betty" who was already broken and Dan and Linda is going to try to break her more? That was not a wise decision because all they did is drive an already stressed out disturbed lady to MURDER. The true heartbreak here is the children. I have so much empathy for the children having to go through something like this. I wished it had never happened. Betty is paying for her crime and has spent many years in prison. I would like to see her get out and try to re-build her life and re-build her life with her children. He slayed her first in the legal battle, the family situation, and the financial arenas. She was reamed. Ultimately, her raw emotions took over. She lost it and crossed the line. At some point, they both knew it was a deadly battle.

@elizabethsalvatore1. I agree with your comment posted. She was so abused by both of the deceased. She is 76, a senior, who has spent too much time behind bars as often thought of as a punishment prerequisite of the legal community of peers of Dan Broderick whether fact or a falsehood? Being kept in prison because she will not utter mere words for remorse- is a total uncalled for outrage. She must not remain a legal pawn any further by this system which doesn’t wish to comprehend instability from all sects of abuse, legal, court actions, jealous retribution’s, all directed at Betty from numerous entities. She did not set out to murder; rather she was driven from insanity, her automatic nervous system took complete control over her being, rendering her helpless for all actions! These courts must start to truly realize the ramifications these contributing factors take upon a female’s mind, actions, when under this severe debilitating malice called abuse! It is a real hindrance to emotional health and well being. She could never even speak to her ex husband over a telephone as Linda took over control, even at their office! Too many factors overlooked and not taken into consideration for the complete degradation of Betty Broderick. The legal system needs repair! Each person has their own coping skills which do break down over repeated performances of turmoil. Free Betty, suffer no further- free Betty- it is time to let her go HOME!

Betty's anger and rage was more about Dan's betrayal. The money was important, and the only way to try and get back at Dan for what he had done to her. She was jealous of Linda because she had taken her place in Dan's life. she wanted to continue to be Mrs. Dan Broderick and enjoy the lifestyle she had become accustomed to as his wife. She felt that Dan"owed" her for all the years she had sacrificed helping him through law school and medical school and his betrayal was more than she could take. I think that Betty intentionally killed Dan and Linda, she felt that they deserved to die because of what they had done to her. Unfortunately, her anger at Dan took precedence over the welfare of the children who are now without either of their parents. I feel a lot of empathy for Betty but she is not the only women whose husband betrayed her, but despite being smart and capable, and not left penniless, she just couldn't let go and move on with her own life and it had devastating consequences for everyone involvolved.

If there was something "not quite right" about Betty from the beginning, then most certainly, the same could be said of Dan. He exploited and then gaslighted Betty with a vengeance. In response to all the: "why didn't Betty just move on?," Dan's cruel and calculating abuse towards his wife and the mother of his four children made that impossible. And to all those: "men leave their wives for younger women all the time," what in the hell kind of consolation is that to a woman driven completely over the edge by a callous, unfaithful husband? Dan was literally playing a game of Russian roulette by continuing to taunt Betty and break her down. Dan not only asked for Betty to retaliate against him and Linda; he positively demanded it, and he almost always got what he wanted. Almost.

I naively married someone like that, a contract marriage. No relationship. He pretended until he got me there. All an arrangement. Repulsive. I left. Betty could have gone to law school. I'm quite sure she would have been admitted. But she had to WIN and she's ok with being in prison for this. He wasn't even a true husband, I dropped my "Dan" before he had any girlfriends. I think Betty should have been on birth control. I know she was a Catholic and I know she wanted a large family, but Dan was abusive from the get-go.

I saw Rhett on tv once, he said that his parents marriage wasn't at all about love, that it was an arrangement. She had the kids and he supported them. My ex had a first wife. I once asked his brother did they love each other, and they had twice as many kids as the Brodericks. His brother said he never saw any love or affection in many years of marriage, that the wife and daughters served the meals and the husband and men did whatever, and I couldn't find a single photo of the two of them together - just her with a kiddie and him with a kiddie. He told me he "made a living" and his first wife BORE the children......yes, she BORE them. Like a machine. He seemed very surprised when I wanted to sit next to him at the dining room table, and didn't want me to touch him. Queer. I don't pose as the wife. Betty was beautiful at her wedding, Dan was a poor student. She could have found a true husband who wanted a normal life, but maybe brought home the average living wage. I'd rather live in a small rented apartment than the way I was living in the melodrama. I couldn't take it. It was sucking the life out of me.

@@loisbeyer5336 An arrangement because it was Betty Broderick who arranged the arrangements because she manipulating Dan. She wants someone to love her, but she arranged. Maybe, that’s because you didn’t know that Betty once threw a bottle of ketchup at Dan. I’ve seen the Betty Broderick case on American Justice with Bill Kurtis. Most people don’t know who Betty Broderick really is did not see American Justice with Bill Kurtis. Oh, Betty Broderick, before the second trial began, was insubordinate when prison guards were taking Betty to solidarity confinement for acting up.

@@loisbeyer5336 Oh, Betty Broderick has come from a large Catholic family. Her parents were strict Catholics who want to have all the expectations of their children, but they never taught her how to shallow the pride that she had.
