One of the last true Ford tractors before they started the change over to being branded and badged as Ford New Holland and then finally becoming just New Holland when the Ford name was dropped completly and then was sadly discontinued and it vanished from the tractors name altogether to become part of history. But to many of the older people out there they will always be known as and still called Ford. The 40 series were among the finest and best models Ford ever made with their new Powerstar engines.

we had one exactly the same on an L reg but its only memorable for being the most unreliable tractor we've ever had, only lasted a year on the farm

Good tractors until they start to go wrong,gearbox problems and electrical faults etc and the early white roof ones had internal solenoids which was a big job to sort out. I personally wouldn't touch a high houred early 40 series
