@@CGJ7755 I lived in an area that had pretty much every vehicle ever used as a police car at some point. The V6 cars like Luminas/Celebrities, Dodge Intrepid and the Taurus were usually relegated to school resource officers or recruit training; something low-need. They even used Reliant and Aries K-cars with HD suspension packages. Military police usually had a 4 cylinder like the Escort or Plymouth Sundance. Highway patrol/state police usually had Mustangs and Camaros for pursuit vehicles.

I have owned several of each of these over the past 30+ years. A halfdozen NCSP SSP notches, 2 Tauri ( ABC/Tobacco Control division unmarked), and probably 10 Crowns from model-year '87 (351W Henrico County Va) through '05s, including unmarked high-rank admin versions with full cloth interior & split-bench front, down to the all-vinyl hose-it-out versions without cruise control (but typically the higher 3.55 rear instead of the 3.27 usually found in the more-optioned P71s). I'd kill to have any of the Mustangs back, and the Taurus was actually a very cool car for what it was. Dual exhaust tips and that slit in the grille were the only details visible from the outside, and the things actually handled reasonably well. I'm officially old now, I guess.

The last model year for the iconic Foxbody, R.I.P 1979-1993, the Crown Victoria took the place of the Mustang in 1992 when it was first released with the Police Interceptor badging.
@PTRRanger951 Жыл бұрын
Last year for the box was 1991, in 92 was the first version of the Crown Vic. In 93, they changed the grill on it to be open. The 1992 model year had a closed off one like the Taurus. Been in a lot of crown vics. Owned a 1996. Been in a few LTDs and the box Caprice. Last model I patrolled in was a 2010 up till about 2017. Nothing beat a Vic. Nothing could touch their durability. The Interceptor Utilities are nothing but trash and can’t handle bumps in the road without something breaking. Worst decision Ford ever made. The 1998 to 2011 body style went unchanged. Now every 2-4 years something major changes on cars. It sucks.

I volunteered with started using full sized Broncos for the "rural" patrol routes in the late eighties, early nineties.
