I have always been a huge fan of David Ozio. Back when I was bowling a lot, owned a pro shop and was around the bowling center all the time, I used to watch a vcr tape of him bowling just before I went out for warm up for leagues or tournaments. Seeing that piece that showed what kind of man he is means a lot to me. I'm gratified that I was loyal and admired a man who was worthy of it on and off the lanes.

Ozio was probably my favorite bowler back then. Such a class act. He not only congratulated the winner at the end, but would celebrate with them. A shark on the lanes, but a teddy bear at the end!

I started watching the PBA in 1993, and that seems to be one of the best years of Ozio's career, as he made several shows, including the Wichita Open in my hometown, where he shot 279 and lost to Mike Aulby's 300. Should have been a 300-300 tie, as he deserved a strike on the one shot he didn't get one, but instead was lucky to not leave a 7-10.

Randy Pedersen puts a tremendous amount of roll on the ball.

I thought it was the thumb hole at first but not to be. It was apparently a lip in the pin deck!

When the pin deck is not level with the lane, those things could happen.

@@vanni9283 Right, I don't believe the PBA returned to Fresno after that. From what I've read, Cedar Lanes closed in 2012, was demolished, and there is now a Walmart (Neighborhood Market?) on the site.

Good matches, I guess it was Randy's day. Too bad he doesn't really bowl on tour anymore, just does his commentary thing.

Indeed, they had just been replaced prior to this tournament. Apparently they weren't even with the lane and that sent some shots airborne when they got to that point.
