@@andrewrouse1829 my uncle had I think it was a WX250? Bought it new in the mid 90’s. My gosh it was a powerhouse. I had an IT200 at the time. The IT was a great trail bike, but the Husky would run bye me in open flats like I was an 80cc. 😂

@@chicagoui9299 You never really hear much about the Swedish nation but they build something they do it well look at the Volvo's of the 70s early 80s they were bombproof then Saab areospace who went on to build brilliant cars so the Husky moto-cross bikes that took the world by storm were no big suprise plus they were the first to delve into the world of 2x2 drive motorcycles. Nice to hear from someone else who got to enjoy the neck snapping power band of the Husqvarna once ridden never forgotten 👍💯👌

I've ridden one (also 93) on a 'vintage' MX track. So much smooth power and a plush ride. It would be a great dually. A bit under sprung for its weight. Not an MX bike, but that never stopped it..! I feel it's superior to any Japanese 'equivalent', in every regard (other than dependability). I almost bought it, but it developed a trans and kicker issue, while I slept on it. So it's still available. If anyone is interested in a $1,200 project with fresh head / valve work, it's all there and runs. The owner likes pick-up trucks, for trades. Located an hour north of MidOhio (the home of the annual AMA vintage motorcycle days events).

Russell, i had a. Husqvarna 1991 610TE for my 18th birthday, on Sept '91. It was the last one with round shape front light and one single exhaust on the left, and it was a MONSTER!!!! I'm 6'8 and well fitted at the time, and still cant keep that monster from wheeling till 4th gear!!! It had enduro (long) gears, pinion and crown were 17 and 49 if i remeber well, and on an Italian motorcicles magazine they tested mine, against a KTM 600, an Honda 600 XR and an Yamaha TT 600, basically the rivals.. Mine was the only with 6 gears (5 gears all the others), it was the lightest (112kg), the most powerfull (around 56hp) biggest torque, and they tested how fast they were: the HUSKY reached 188,8 km/h !!!! The final ranking was: 1st the 610TE, 2nd the KTM, 3rd the XR and 4th the TT.

Use very god oil, change every 500miles or so and don't full throttle it longer as you can hold breath was the secret😉

Those and the early husabergs are both torque monsters in fact I used to have trouble riding them in the trails because I really didn't weigh enough to put the power to the ground they make so much torque hard to keep the back tire from spinning off road. If I was going to build the ultimate supermoto it would probably be a husaberg 650. They don't rev out the highest but they have more torque than a xr650r way way ahead of there time! Ktm bought out husaberg and redeveloped the engine they managed to improve the maintenance intervals by ALOT!

Loving my Husky 2020 FX450. My father has a kawasaki XLR250 ,same year that was in roadhouse barn explosion scene, that needs some minor work to run again, but is pretty much mint. This reminds me of that bike. Tons of torque but heavy with the metal tank and frame. Blew out front forks and rear shock on it jumping a massive table top when I was younger.

Miałem taką Husqvarna TE610 rzeczywista pojemność silnika to 570ccm. Wspominam ten motocykl z radością w sercu. Pozdrawiam z Polski całą ekipę Kaplan.

Reading between the lines one starts to understand how good the Swedish tech was at the 80´s You are getting this impressions from this bike, and i know that this still is the swedish developed frame and engine. Look at it closely and you´ll see the engine´s bottom end is the 'same' as the old twostrokers from late 70´s up to -87 Many parts in these te610´s fits the old twostrokers.

Let me comment 2 things as an ex proprietor of a Honda NX 650 (same motor as the XR650). First they are two complete different bikes, this is a beast, raw power, thoroughbred since inception, no comparison can be made. Second, the others may probably be "slugs" as you say, but let's find spare parts for this '92 model...you´ll have to look up a lot, but on the other hand you can restore (or almost build from cero) any XR 600 / 650.

You can find that bottom end torque pretty easy on a 650l, only issue is you gotta drop 2 teeth on the countershaft and add 2 on the back which absolutely kills your top end speed. Makes a heck of a woods bike though lol

Curious if Billy ever made it down to any of the Delaware National Enduro's back in mid 80's. We use to get a lot of riders from New England. I remember a couple rows of guy from I think they were Rhody Rovers and some Prince Edward or something like that. We use to draw about 500 riders. We've since lost all land permissions have no enduro. I think the club hosted a little over 50. On 80's we always drew all the National Teams and Husky was king back then.

I have some knowledge to share on Husqvarna so maybe somebody here appreciates that. Though first a question probably nobody can answer, I have always wondered how similar the 610 Jacky martens rode in the GPs was to this bike. I personally assume that it only shared the name and was a prototype works engine. Interestingly, what he said about Husqvarna in the 50s is not technically correct. The leading motocross bike brands in the fifties were all british in the 500cc class and four strokes and German and two strokesin the 250 class, which was not called a world championship by then. In the 500s the british bikes were the absolute standard, so far that many swedish bikes ridden at that time were mainly in imperial units because they derived parts from the british bikes. The legend of the swedish four-stroke bikes is interestingly focused around one dude who had a workshop in his houses cellar. That man's name is Nisse Hedlund, he tuned and designed engines starting in the late 50s. The world titles that the major swedish brands garnered in that time, are all run on bikes with engines built by this single man, in different frames under different badges. Hedlund would later build his own engines for sidecar and solo racing, which garnered their largest success in the sidecar series. Towards the newer history, as we all know that Husqvarna is the last of the real husqis because the brand was bought by BMW and later sold as an empty brand badge to KTM. Most of you probably know that the core Designers at Husqvarna left the company during that acquisition and founded Husaberg, which went on to build the craziest four stroke dual sports and supermoto single cylinders to this day. What most of you however probably do not know is that after Husaberg was also falling apart and being bought by KTM to just use the badge, these engineers came together to form yet another brand. They were called highland motors and I don't know how many bikes they ever built it is probably less than 1000, but those were true beasts to behold. They turned the 600 husaberg single into a 1000 V2 similar to the LC8 of KTM, just witht the difference that the highland has a curb weight of 155kg. Enough of a story time from me
