Mr Kaplan you have sent me on a nostalgia trip from my youth. I owned a 1986 WR240. Also had 2 1987 AE430. The 3 speed auto was a amazing beast. Like a mountain goat. If i won the lottery i would fill my garage with antique Huskys and feel like a King looking at them.

I had that bike in 87. I bought it from a guy and he only put a few hours on it, the bike was perfect. I rode it hard for 2 seasons and then bought a kx250. Hearing you ride it brought back so many good memories. I'm upset that i no longer have pictures of the bike!

I'm on minute 3:50 . That puppy is tight I mean it's the best down one yet and that's a lot to say with this stupid Google KZbin sound system on a T-Mobile phone but it has no piston skirt sound at all it's like it's almost too tight to ride but we know better than that it's properly that's how it's supposed to sound with no dings and clings and clangs.... And when it's idling it's got that pure sounding buzz that the first aluminum silencers that doubled as a spark arrestor for the Yamaha mxs years ago had a really nice tone like this Husqvarna does..... This one alone is a rare 250 that's going to be hard to duplicate.... And that's about as clean as I get dang that thing is sure pretty

Blue and yellow stripes on the radiator wings isn´t original ;) Between the yellow and blue there is a white gap, about 1.5mm wide. And the 'whatisitcalled' steering is aftermarket, so i think this bike was ridden more than you state.

And i tryed it and it helps lot.

Even a Husqvarna chainsaw is much better and more powerful for cc than a STIHL chainsaw as I found out to be true when they cutting up a tree with a friend who had a Husqvarna that was 20 years older than my brand new steel and he was sawing up circles around me ... Anyways I've always wanted to have one of these bikes damn it always a day late and a dollar short. . In about 1996 I bought a brand new KTM 360 2-stroke and the guy bought it from his friend had a brand new Husqvarna 250 that must have been about the same year of a 1996 and he wanted to ride one of the new KTM so me and Andy the guy that sold me the KTM went out to his farm where they just started to bust open the cornfields and they had some really nice tracks laid out that was about 3 mi around the whole thing in and out of the cornfields mostly flat but a lot of rolling hills on the sides where it was mainly just open the bastards up and let him have it to top in and just hold it there. . And so we treated rides for a while I had about 20 minutes on that new Husqvarna and oh my God that thing would ruin and it was smooth and tight and just look at where you want to go and it would be there didn't have to hardly steer it all just throttle it ... And it was just as fast as my next 360 in fact we were dicing it up passing one another on a lane for the combined had already been through harvesting a corn rows ... It was a hoot and wished then I bought the Husqvarna instead of the KTM

"Cap USA" , in 1987, 88, and 89 Husky actually put together a pretty good package. They're 500's were notorious for being slow, imbalanced motor and generally slugs. Thier 250's were also known as being poorly carbureted, kind of slow and generally known as slugs. They were very well put together machines with a chassis to die for. Their motors, however, without expertise knowledge and factory parts, were lethargic at best. Was a Husky of this era a great machines? You bet they were, with a full factory implantation of works parts. Vintage Huskies, from the mid to late 80s and 90s, have a bad rap due to their lack of expertise infiltrating into race day for the common man. Will a vintage Husky CR500/250 ever outrun, outperform thier Japanese counterparts? No way, as they were limited by the underdevelopment of their motors.
@williamfabiano5432 жыл бұрын
Slugs? No. I had the opportunity to ride a 1980 500 CR. Complete rattle box ? Oh definitely but if you could dare to keep the throttle you were riding ahead of the pack. Partly because the rear tire was throwing fist sized rocks at any rider behind you. I had a 89 KX250 and that 500 smoked me every time.
@kevintackett75642 жыл бұрын
@@williamfabiano543 the early air cooled models had a pretty decent hit. The later water pool models were slow in comparison to the Japanese motocrossers.

@@jimbo4203 all the Husky cr250s from 1970 to 1985 we're very competitive very fast and well chassis. 87 and all the way through the '90s their motors just weren't very good for Motocross, there were more Enduro leaning when it came to factory tuning.

@donniebaker59842 жыл бұрын
Kaplan got your ears on? This is sort of off the subject but it's the newest video where I can pass this message on to you about cerakote... There's this guy on KZbin it's been running seer coat demonstrations for a couple years now he's getting really good at it of just using materials that he has around the house to put his operations together and he also does powder coating and he's learned how to anodize aluminum it's just common junk around the house and wires and some buckets and pans and he buys the chemicals and mix it up himself and does it with transformers and stuff and he's got an Eastwood powder coating system has their top of the line for powder coating is less than 200 bucks for all the equipment the spray gun transformers and stuff... Cameron just use the common kitchen oven to heat up these parts to cerakote them and he's coming up with some really nice colors on these dirt bikes of the bronze and black and some silvery gray looks to the triple clamps and things around the detail on a dirt bike it looks great check him out here's the address kzbin.info And here's another thought when you guys get backlogged like you've been behind on restoring these bikes to perfection you might inquire what he charged to let you subcontract out some parts while you're cleaning up the frame and rebuilding the engine and all that see what he charged you to like powder coat of spring for the rear shock or maybe just clean the whole shock up and send it back to you he's probably do the same thing with the triple clamps and stuff .... Just saying as we know these comment boxes aren't exactly the fastest most accurate way to exchange ideas versus being there in person.. cuz I always say any information is better than no information... Anything to do with helping you guys out even if it's wrong information you'll know not to go there again.... And things are starting to get tight ... Harley-Davidson just shut down for 2 weeks due to lack of parts they needed to finish 3000 bikes ... The effects of the planned denic is taking its effect now... Harris county is it shut down because of the last year's situation is catching up from production to handling to actual shipping all businesses have separate losses and had to shut down and the effects are really kicking in
