This was remarkable. Nigel had no business being on pole here - he was just getting over his Phoenix crash, and was having fluid drained out of a cavity in his back twie daily, and neat anaesthetic injected into his back to wipe out the pain (he hadn't had the corrective surgery yet) - so he couldn't feel the car. Getting pole and finishing third was one of his toughest and bravest performances ever.
