Unfortunately, the passengers in US427 may saw it before the crash.😢

I was thinking the exact same thing! The 737 doesn't have the best history, especially back then, although that specific problem has been fixed.

I was a USAir flight attendant at this time. Smoking was allowed on flights over two hours until around 1990 or so when it was only on flight of six hours or longer. Made the flights way more comfortable. It was so uncomfortable breathing all that smoke for hours at a time. We played that safety video on a video cassette player that was in the last overhead bin on the right side of the plane. The video was on a VHS tape…😆

I was a Piedmont/US Airways FA between 1987 - 2000. The good old days for sure! We loved those new VHS video safety briefings back then, we didn't have to stand in the aisle and do and it ourselves anymore! My bases were CLT-MIA-BWI & PHL! I still miss flying!

The late 80's and early 90's were certainly challenging for US Air...a crazy number of crashes!

So sad, the 767 video still has Piedmont seats/interior :(

1st 1 is no smoke, 2nd 1 is smoke. Smoking was legal in planes until later.

How did passengers get pre-cleared at Gatwick if they flew to Charlotte?
@alexcentury21664 жыл бұрын
US Customs has pre-clearance facilities at several airports around the world. Almost every major Canadian airport has it so that smaller US cities can have nonstop service to Canada without having to have a CBP station onsite. Other preclearance facilities are in where the US gets a lot of refugee/asylum claims. By making people go through US Customs before they get on the plane, it stops many frivolous asylum claims from occurring (since you can file for asylum once you arrive in the US legally or not).

@@alexcentury2166 I know about all of that. However, London Gatwick never had that to my knowledge.
