Another awesome post. This was the game that sealed my love for Jeff Hostetler. I still remembered the 51-3 destruction we suffered in the 1990 AFC Championship game. This was the first time we had been back to Buffalo since, even though the teams had split games in LA in 1991 and 1992. The Raiders SHOULD have beaten Buffalo both times. But this game, after losing to the 0-10 Bengals the week before, was pretty much a must win for my Raiders. And to see them pull it out...be the anti-Raiders of the Lost 90's for once in a big game...I thought for sure we finally had our guy under center in Hoss.

We had our chances. A couple of bad calls but their defense just shut us down. It was a theme of that entire season...the offense would disappear in the 2nd half. Lost us games against Cleveland, Cincy, and should've cost us against the Bears.

AFL charter members. Great rivalry games in those years. The raiders had Tim brown , rocket Ismail and James jett as wideouts . A slinger - Jeff hostetler , AL Davis always had world class speedsters at WR.

This game is probably the first game that I watched where I fully understood the game of football. This is the game that I realized that Tim Brown was a great player and something special that the Raiders had. I remember Bo, but this reassured me, and gave me hope that we had another star to help carry us through to give us hope and to build on. It also gave me hope for Jeff Hostetler. That he can be the guy, and get us through a lot of adversity. Seen it now, in hindsight, and after all these years makes me realize how much more we needed to do to take it to the next level. We had some great players back then, but honestly we needed more, more depth, a better offensive line, more sophisticated play calling offensive and defensive, and probably should have upgraded our recievers the next year. Meaning, not soley rely on the premise that Rocket Ismail and James Jett would be sufficient, but continually look at other recievers to create better depth and competition.

Jesus Flores Can't forget about The Fastest James Jett So good and underrated This was when football was real and not about cry babying politics.

Jesus Flores Strange after Al Davis let Ron Wolf leave in 1990 to go build Green Bay(which was such a shame I remember my father cursing AL then but I never understood why it was such a big deal AL was the genius all these years right?? Not Ron. Remember it vividly my father saying that Ron should’ve never been allowed to leave that he was just as big mastermind in building our organization as Al but we just never heard about him because he never wanted the spotlight or publicity he just wanted to be OUR GM and for AL to help but really just own the team..but you noticed what happened to our rosters after he left..STUDS here..NOBODIES there..STUDS there..NOBODIES here..Al just couldn’t build a complete roster until he got help from Coach Gruden in 98

I remember when the BIlls lost this game, my dad yelled at the screen and said "That's the freakin' season." The Bills fell to 8-4 and the next week at Philly had to steal the game to not fall to 8-5. Anyway, the Bills miraculously finished 12-4 and got homefield for the playoffs and went to their 4th straight SB.

I remember this game-the Bills should have won but righted the ship shortly after this setback and claimed homefield throughout the playoffs.

Thanks for posting this. This was the very first game I ever attended. The play at the 25:50 mark made Steve Wisniewski my favorite Raider. I remember Bruce Smith always hated going against him and the Raiders. This brings back memories.

Steve Wisniewski should be in the Hall of Fame. 8× Pro Bowl, 8x All Pro (2x-1st Team, 6x-2nd Team), NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.

I remember this game, A great 1 point Raiders win 25-24, The 1993 Raiders were a tough gritty team I thought might get to SB XXVIII But Buffalo got em in the playoffs 27-23 after blowing a 17-6 lead.

The previous week the Raiders had lost to the 0-10 Bengals, then they go into Buffalo and beat the eventual AFC champion. Goes to show you how unpredictable the NFL can be.

Stats aside; this is how I'd rate the Raiders qbs Stabler, Plunkett, Lamonica, Gannon, Carr, Hosstetler

the jokes about getting hit in the head on football around 13:00 give or take a few second would NEVER happen today. it's not even funny to me, I just think about all the greats who had/have CTE. Thank youbfornuploadong this game, I subscribed, it looks like you are a Bills fan, I could be wrong though. I'm a Raiders fan but I respect the early 90s Bills teams a lot. they should have beaten NY in the super bowl

Bob McElwee was the referee for this game; the Bills would then see him again at Super Bowl XXVIII in January against Dallas.

the raiders could never get past the bills in the playoffs the turf looks like it hurts like hell it's no wonder they had such a hard time especially with a team as good as the bills

I hear you . After all football is a game you can legally kill someone ,if you don't have that sprit to try you shouldn't be playing.
