I have been chasing this issue for 3 years since the day I purchased my Suburban from a friend. He did the same for 2 years before he sold it to me. Adjusted the sensor and couldn't have been happier when I stomped the accelerator and my drive shaft exploded!!!! No kidding I was actually happy to see what she was capable of!!!!👍 Aside from the time spent finding a stronger drive shaft the whole job took 10 minutes and cost nothing. Thank You a thousand times!!!

I originally paid 2 diesel mechanics who didn't fix my problem (one who claimed to specialize in 6.5's). Then installed injection pump with remote PDM, replaced all ground wires as many suggested, installed a boost gauge and tested my turbo, new injectors, checked fuel lines and replaced filter, replaced lift pump which was bad but did not help and basically enjoyed avoided the passing lane and made sure to not park in a sloped parking lot as back up on a slope was impossible. Thanks again.

@@purcali Hi. '00 6.5TD K3500 Dump, relocated PMD with no power and black smoke at high throttle here. Been going around and around with mechanic and I'm psyched to have just found this video. So pulling the injection pump is 3hrs and installing it is another 3. What's the specific adjustment to the timing, "a couple hundredths to the passenger side"? When that doesn't work- what, pull it all and do it again?

If you want it I can look it up and post a video tomorrow. I have access to online manuals at work. In my case I had no luck monitoring the scan tool pids with most newer scan tools they won't communicate with that old junk. I had luck with a snap on brick scan tool that's old as fuck. We don’t have the same problem I’ve narrowed my no crank no start problem down to a bad optical sensor as I have disconnected it in order for the computer to take data from the crankshaft position sensor instead in order to start. I watched this video because I know it has to be adjusted correctly to run properly and I think I will just make a shim to make sure the new sensor gets installed in the same place.

my 95 2500 does the same thing, just shuts down while running down the road. never has died while at idle. pmd is new and relocated with heat sink, extra grounds have been added but still does it. it is like something trips a resettable circut in the computer cuz 15 seconds later it will fire up every time then it might not do it for 5 min or might wait 5 weeks till it does it. seems to be a never ending problem.

We did that with HMMWV’s in Iraq, in order to go down the road. Helped immensely…. We were switching from pathetic 6.2 to the equivalent of pathetic 6.5. Should be a crime when another country gets our equipment and see what we fight with…. Afghanistan and Russia are two examples… Chevy should be prosecuted for what they designed for American troops. China could have done better….

You do have to know how to time a diesel...... following advice like "just max out the timing" is just wrong. There are tools to set the timing. The truck in the video ran better because the timing was set retarded initially. If your truck is set properly and you advance it, you will have problems.
