Thanks for the thorough video. We have the same exact boat (located in Portland Oregon) and have issues with some switches not working like wipers. This might give us confidence to dive into electrical and the upgrades you did. Really like the bigger lit buttons . Thanks

Thanks for checking out the video! Most likely corrosion and/or loose connections. Get a DMM and check a few KZbin videos on the basics. That will help you zero in on the problem. The full rewire is time consuming but worth it! Feel free to shoot me an email. Email is listed in my profile section. Good luck.

Nice work! I'm up in Anacortes with a 19' Arima. You've inspired me to add some lights.

Nice wiring job!

I redid my Grady with the ACR, I love it but I had high risk of draining batts with 2 amps and subwoofer etc. I don’t have to worry about it now.

The ACR units are great! If I had more power draw with my boat I would have installed one.

Well I did it… picked up an old 17’ Sea Ranger. Wiring will be my winter project next year.

Ah man! Awesome, every time I take my boat out I think to myself how great it is for our waters. Join the Owners forum! I think I saw that boat on Craigslist.

@@kensfishingtails thanks to someone on the AO website for posting the boat. It was on OfferUp and I never would have found it.

Great video! I just got a used Sea Chaser 1511, so fairly similar to your boat. Watching your video was really helpful, since I need to do a rewire. Did you use 1/2" starboard for mounting your battery switch and Busbar at your Starboard Stern? Also, what size and length screws did you use to mount the board to the fiberglass? I'm a little afraid to screw through the side of the boat. I'm also thinking of mounting the starboard to a C-channel bracket or something similar, so there will be space between the starboard and the fiberglass side of the boat. That space might help with mounting the switches and other electrical components. I have a group 24DC battery in the stern, but I had room to rotate it so the short side of the battery is facing the stern/bow. That provides more room between the battery and where the starboard will be mounted.

Regarding your new anchor light base, did you find a replacement with the same hole pattern? I can’t find one where the holes are the same mounting distance apart. I would message you on AO but can’t figure it out. 😂

Hey Mark, all good. That forum takes a sec to get the hang of. I could not find a base that fit the same holes! Luckily that Perko model just barely covered up the old holes and left room to screw in new ones. I did not go over board on plugging those small screw holes. I think I just threw some silicone into them.

I really love your boat. How does it ride when the wind kicks up in the afternoon on the sound?
@kensfishingtails2 жыл бұрын
The boat is great for the sound. It may be argued it’s one of the best. With proper trim and throttle control it’s easy to stay on a plane in the typical 2ft wind/current chop we usually get around 3 in the afternoon. If I were to put trim tabs on it would be even smoother. Only thing I would have done differently is a slightly larger motor for getting up on a plane quicker in heavy current situations.

Hey Mark, it is 6’ at the longest point! Perfect for camping. I’m 5’ 9” so it’s perfect. I will have a few videos coming up in 2023 of me camping and going on longer overnight cruises. You could easily sleep two shorter people in there. Or you and a pup! These boats are no longer in production. If you find a nice one jump on it. Will probably need a repower.

@@kensfishingtails I used to be 5’-9” too. But had my hip replaced in December so I’m not sure anymore. 😂 I have my eyes out for an Explorer or Ranger. An older one. Cause the price on the newer boats…. Hopefully we will be waving to one another in the South Sound this summer.
