This could help to correct for subframe rust damage. After it is up on ramps, inspect your frame, mine is/was shot... As in, the bushings would go right through all but one of the holes on the rear. So, I ordered some 3.75 OD washers from fastenal. The ID of them was too small though (did not have the replacement bushings when I ordered them to measure) so I widened the holes out. The OD of the bushing is 2", so if you can find them that size, go for it. I might try PN 33829 from fastenal, if I did it again. You will still have to notch out the outside of the 3.75" ones though, so they will slide inside the inner frame bushing holes. Source Claude 1991

Same set-up, same part no. for my '90 DeVille. Also same access hole on the one bushing. On the other I snapped off the frozen bolt with a breaker bar/cheater bar and cut an access hole in the toe board to install a new nut. There was nothing left to the old caged nut and the bolt was almost as thin as a toothpick.

Did you weld the nut in or fasten? How? Did the nut hold in positon over time? Would you recommend this process now?

@@mobilecommunicationsnetwor5268 I used "lock-tite" on the threads as I don't have a welder. So far so good. A bead of weld would definitely add strength.

Why would you cut part of the support

I made the the size of that unibody opening larger so that I could get a pair of vice grips in (the opening) and grab the top of the bolt. Keep in mind, I could not grab the bottom of the bolt because it had rusted away.

When you said you screwed the bolt up and not down…you said down would have been a mistake. I’m doing this now with the same type of rusted bolt. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thx.

. The reason I didn't screw the rusted bolt down was due to the threads being chewed up by the vise grips. Removing the bolt upward was a lot easier because of that and also because it involves fewer rotations to get it out.

Why can't anybody just do a video of replacing these, nobody cares about your life story we are only here to see those get replaced
