1994 December - 15 16 17

December 15, 16 and 17 within the Parkes area NSW capturing the 80 class in their final summer in full flight on the main west.
With the July introduction of Ready Power 90 and 82 class, the Hunter Coal allotted 81 class had ventured to services on the main west, taking over traditionally operated 44 and 80 class rosters. National Rail was now a major player within the region, with Freight Rail progressively moving to intra-state traffic haulage.

Was the first video filmed between Bocoble and Brymedura section huts? The 2nd looks like Jeerabung (Red Hill) with the crossing. Have you any footage of Goobang Junction East & West signal boxes before they were abolished in 1992? Cannot source any pictures of those two little boxes. 80 class were a good loco when everything worked, good gutsy sound under power. Little 4855 appears on many trains, the star of the show. Smoke from 8027 at 24:30 was disgusting, should have been failed. Great collection and thanks for posting them.

Initial scenes were all captured road side from Henry Parkes way, with the level crossing to the right of each scene. No further infrastructure pics from Goobang. As for smoke from 8027, what would have been the cause? Havent scene it before this or since! Drivers at Parkes said blown turbo at the time? Would this be correct?
