I’m waving a Boxing Kangaroo flag at 03:51. Was so awesome being there. Arguably THE loudest rugby league crowd I have been to. So loud that it gave you a headache. They all shut up in the second half. The Wigan supporters in front of me spent the 2nd half slagging out all the players from Yorkshire. Pretty funny! 😂

Thuggery is part of the game and its how we northerners like it played. as this is our sport, long may it continue. if you haven't got the stomach for it, piss off and play your own sports instead of leeching off ours.

when this game was played it was 35 years since the British won a series and today, in 2024 is it 63 years and yet these British commentators STILL want to provide a hint as to how the game should be played????????????????????????
@Holden3084 жыл бұрын
As a coach, especially at international level, you need to put personal feelings aside and pick the best team available. I'm not saying that the results would have been different (Australia winning the series), but Ellery Hanley as coach definitely let his personal animosity with Garry Schofield get in the way of team selection in the 1994 Ashes Series.

Holden308 Schofield was pants against the aussies, some guys like him and Shaun Edwards , Lee Crooks, went missing when playing the big boys, they were flat track bullies.
@ghengisful3 жыл бұрын
Schofield should have been one of the first picked - great player. I'm an Aussie and I was getting sick of the Kangaroos trouncing the Poms. Much better watching these days - the Poms are MUCH fitter and tackle MUCH better than they did when their team was full of head-hunting rolly polly thugs in the forwards who had great ball skills and no stamina. The Kiwis are much better too and make great opposition too these days. No pushovers for the Aussies these days.
@barrettcarr14133 жыл бұрын
Definitely overrated both as a player (against Australia) and coach (against Australia)
@christouvelos48973 ай бұрын
@@ghengisful to be fair his form was not that great in 1994, plus Leeds played they Aussies and lost 48-6 raising some doubts how some of their players would go if picked. I thought Alan Tait was very unlucky not to be picked when Davies got injured.

@HenriHattarАй бұрын
Connolly was possibly the dirtiest player on the field that day, a lot of British foul play went without penalty, for what reason I have NO clue, but for the commentators to go balistic because the British score a try to late is beyond me as well, as for McDermot going off...did he deserve to?ut WHAT did Walters do???? The British were given more than an even break and for nearly 70 years now, they have NOT been up to it ! Same with the Olympics and many other things.

It was during the 1992 Great Britain Lions tour and it was before the match against Parramatta. The Aussie winger who won was Lee Oudenryn. There were actually rumours that surfaced that Offiah had tanked. Allegedly a few of his Lions team mates had bet a fair bit on Oudenryn as the rank outsider and according to former Kangaroos hooker Benny Elias, Martin had lost deliberately so his team mates could collect at the good odds they got from the bookies. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3yQoax9orx-jtU

Offiah did have a well publicised 100 metre match race at Wentworth Park in Sydney during the Lions 1988 tour. He took on Dale Shearer and John Ferguson (who replaced an injured Greg Alexander). Offiah won easily from Rowdy and Chicka.
