1994 NFL Prime Time Week 3 First Throwback Weekend

Originally aired Sunday Evening, September 18, 1994. This was the first ever Throwback Weekend with the teams wearing vintage jerseys and helmets. This was in conjunction with the NFLs 75th anniversary.
At the time, this promotion was unique and had never been done before. It was the primary reason I recorded it.

NBC has the rights to the primetime highlight show. But primetime still exists. I just get annoyed at the nonlinear way they show their highlights. And NBC talks too much and their highlights arent as strong.

Oh, man. My favorite season. Number #75. The sweet throwbacks. Epic showdowns between QB Legends (Young-Montana, Montana-Elway on MNF), Marino's Fake spike, Jerry Rice annihilating the record books, high flying Lions with Herman Moore and Barry Sanders, loads of OT games. Just the greatest era of Pro Football. TY for sharing!

This show was a huge part of growing up. 94 was a great year. My youth football team won the championship, the 49ers won the super bowl and my Huskers won the national championship

This was good... But I really miss early Sunday mornings in the '80s when it all started. NFL SUNDAY COUNTDOWN! Boomer & T.J. & Art Donovan first thing Sunday mornings. If the Forty Niners were on the road they were the early game at 9:30am, if they weren't, then I switched channels to TV20 for G.L.O.W. (the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling) "Hollywood" of Hollywood & Vine, and The Jungle Woman were my favorites. Then over to the early game, followed by the 1pm game, then NFL PRIME TIME, then the ESPN Sunday Night Football game, then over to Nickelodeon's Nick @ Night (Car 54, Route 66) then back to ESPN for NFL Film's "The Men Who Played The Game" Hit the showers and off to bed. AHHHHH just another perfect Sunday... booked in the lore of Couch Potatoes. Especially if the Forty Niners won, which they usually did.

During the 1994-95 NFL season I think the Pittsburgh Steelers could have used a vintage khaki football helmet along with the white numerals and a hint of black as well as the black piping inserted on the helmets combined with a grayish white face-mask design as a special throwback.

The ones in the 94 are pretty good. They're a mix of past and present. The red bills helmet, with the old bills logo colored white. Stuff like that is creative as hell
