Thank you for taking the time to post this video, I'll be sure to check into purchasing the new steering assembly for my EZGo. My steering is WAY worse than your old one!

Very helpful and well done video. We bought a used EZGO, but the complaint department reports that the steering locks up occasionally but will unlock if the wheel is turned in the opposite direction. Also there is excessive play in the wheel like on your cart, so I think replacing this gear box is in my future.

Replacing the rack assy in my 94 Medalist, glad to find out about the new housing not being threaded for the bolt under the front mat. Looked like the plastic end cap was damaged during shipping when you unpacked it, mine was damaged as well but an easy enough fix by replacing with the old one. Thanks

Joe Sapienza the plastic end cap was a little bent but it didn’t need replacing in my case. Hope your rack assembly replacement goes well. My steering is so much better after replacement.

These videos are wonderful. We are comfortable taking the steering box off and think we will be fine replacing it. Our only problem is getting the correct box. How do we know which one to order?

After removing the castle nuts, how did you get the tie rod bolts out? Mine are basically welded in there to the point I can't even hit them out with a sledgehammer,

Thanks man, very helpful 😊

Did you need to adjust the toe in after the steering replacement? I have a '95 model that is pulling to the right pretty badly. I'm going to try to adjust the tie rods to see if that helps.

on the hidden nut you say don't forget about it... underneath you have 3 bolts holding the box . How does the "hidden" nut as you say mount or hold the box ...there is no more mounting holes other than the three we see underneath?
@tuffguy5 жыл бұрын
tim wolfe there is a 4th mounting hole to the right of where the steering shaft is attached.
@walterandykathleen Жыл бұрын
@@tuffguy Apparently they changed the design at some point? Mine didn't have the hidden fastener. There's a hole in the floorboard like yours, but no surface beneath that for the fasten to. My old steering rack has an unused hole there for a bolt, but the new rack has a boss in that location, but no bolt hole.
@bbouncer6832 Жыл бұрын
The forth bolt for the steering column is not on a lot of the new rack and pinion replacements. I have a 1994 txt and it works great so not sure it absolutely necessary. Keep in mind the mounting bolts pulled out are course thread and you will need fine tread bolts for new part.

Does anybody know the torque specs for the two main bolts that attach the box?
@larryreno82933 жыл бұрын
Two ugga duggas. Seriously tho, just make sure they’re tight.
