1994 toyota pickup ignition switch and cylinder removal ( works on 89 to 95)

Hey guys just like you I can't find a video to remove the ignition switch on my truck, they only show how to remove cylinder. I watched a few videos on other cars that were similar to ours and figured I had an idea how to remove it and wanted to make a video for yall so you can see exactly how it's done. watch it in full then follow along. hope yall enjoy :)

Didn’t realize you had to set the key to ACC. As soon as I watched your video, I set the key position to acc and the button pushed in and the ignition came out. You saved me a huge headache buddy.

I’m getting ready to change out the ignition switch on my ‘94 Toyota pick-up 4WD, and your vid is pure gold. When ordering your replacement switch make sure you order the one that matches your truck if it was made in the USA or Japan. I know the first code of the VIN that starts with any of these numbers (1,4,5), indicates that the truck was manufactured in the US. And also, be careful handling your aged, plastic trim pieces which break very easily. They are expensive on eBay, if you can find your trim color. Good luck!

Hey I just found out your switch will be different if you have an automatic. There's two types of switches for these vehicles, I bought the wrong one not knowing this.

Drilling holes is creative, but it's wiser removing the steering wheel and then the two nuts and two bolts (14 mm socket) holding up the steering column and resting it on the floor. The switch then comes out like nothing. Removing the steering wheel isn't mandatory, it just gives you more working room.

I think you can just drop the whole steering column to access the top of the ignition. It's 4 bolts and the column swings down.

IMPORTANT: if you have an automatic, your switch will be different. This was not known to me I will add information to the video soon. Including install instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. I bought the wrong part not knowing this. If yours is automatic, your male connector will not be 2 on top 5 on bottom, it will be a clean 4 on 4 connector. Everything else looks the same. Take this into consideration please. Sorry again. Will fix this soon

I have the new part and went to work on replacing my ignition switch and got to the point where the new one was in and then tried to plug the connectors together, without success. Upon close inspection, the first new ignition switch that you had, is the one I need, and the one I have, is the one you need…go figure, lol!

When you put in the information for your truck, both automatic and manual switches will come up. When I bought my part it didn't show the inside of said connector. Both have same amount of prongs but arranged differently. Only realized this after buying and getting my part
