Wow! What a tournament this True Value stop in Peoria was. Duke lead by so much and Bryan Goebel had a great telecast. Was hoping he would collect the additional 200G by shooting 300. I was rooting for Norm Duke as always yet very good to see Goebel win. One of the best championship matches ever. "Bo" Burton provided the enthusiasm & insight as always 😀.
@Wolfman123957 жыл бұрын
Norm was simply unstoppable this tournament... And yet, to throw a 280 and lose the tournament.... Damn... Duke still holds the PBA record for the highest scoring losing game on TV from this show.
@mpup547 жыл бұрын
Forget the scoring records, Goebel was one strike away from an additional $200,000 for the perfect game. He had thrown 14 in a row counting back to the previous game before getting 6 pins.

Oh yeah I definitely feel for Goebel too, that shot was worth more than any ball in PBA history in terms of it all coming down to one frame.

Anyone else think it's more than a coincidence that after this year True Value dropped sponsorship of the Peoria Tournament?
@pamelacass96424 жыл бұрын
@@cameronkiltau7799 They were trying to convince people to not go to Home Depot and Lowe's, plus had to pay out big bucks for 300 games, it's why you don't see big payouts for 300 games unless it's the title game. Even then it's only 10,000 and a fakeout for 100,000 or even a million. If the plague ever ends don't expect the PBA back.
@railroadskater28964 жыл бұрын
@@pamelacass9642 I never could understand why bigger payouts were offered in the title match. Why should it matter what game it occurred in? I don't even bother wasting my time watching the PBA of today. Back then there were NO Home depots or Lowes (in NJ). There was Rickel/Channel. Were True Value locations franchised the way ACE is?

Bowlers today all too preoccupied with all these fancy core designs, a-symmetrical, computer aided etc etc. The title match here 300-279 with two reactive balls, one with a pancake weight block and the other with a simple bulb shaped core. Is there a lesson there for the modern game? I think so.

The amazing part really happened during the week leading up to this. Duke averaged over 248 for the week leading up to the 280 game. 3- 800 series, 3- 300 games and 2 - 299s. That is just nuts to fire 8 honor scores inside of one tournament.

@beeemm2578 Жыл бұрын
Collodion is a flammable, syrupy solution of nitrocellulose in ether and alcohol. There are two basic types: flexible and non-flexible. The flexible type is often used as a surgical dressing or to hold dressings in place. When painted on the skin, collodion dries to form a flexible nitrocellulose film.
