This is one of my favorite Lions games from the Barry Sanders era. He rushed for 37 yards in the first half, yet he finished the game with 237 yards. That 2nd half was amazing. No one could stop him.

If Barry ran this well in the wild card round against Green Bay, Detroit would have won that game.

Barry's 200 yard 2nd half was the culmination of one of the great Sundays in NFL history All but 1 Sunday game was decided by a touchdown or less which included: Drew Bledsoe's historic 45 completions on 70 attempts in a 20 point comeback OT win, a huge Chargers/Chiefs AFC West showdown, a thrilling Falcons/Saints shootout, the Bears upset win in Miami, and the Cowboys/49ers clash of the titans.

Barry rushes for 237 yards and still barely beat the Bucs at home. So typical of the Lions in those days.

Yes, the Barry Sanders Ers was the best thing for the Detriot Lions.

So much overall talent on the Lions teams of the 90s. So disappointing that they never accomplished more.

QB most important position was their downfall. Also some dumb coaching at times.

They had decent quarterbacks. Marino and Montana were on others teams. Their linebackers and secondary was their problem from 1973 to 2023.

Wayne Fontes on his seemingly annual rise from the dead (hence the nickname Rasputin) to lift the Lions to the postseason.

If sanders would have had a fullback from his rookie year he would have had 20k, 200 rushing TDs and 2-3 2000 yard seasons by time he retired.

These videos are such magnificent time capsules. Trent Dilfer was the quarterback of the future. The Bucs did wear tangerine. ESPN did have a great crew for Sunday Night Football (hint NBC). Scott Mitchell continues to be one of the worst free agent signings of all time (although he isn’t in this game). Jason Hanson should be a HoFer. And Barry Sanders was the greatest back of all time and was the greatest back in an era of great backs.

Unreal that The Eagles missed the postseason at 7-3 and the 4-5 Lions made it

Ugh. Another close Bucs loss in 1994, all due to the crappy play of Trent Dilfer.
@Chenglor912 жыл бұрын
You mean Craig Erickson. Not Trent Dilfer. Dilfer did not play in this game & Dilfer only started 2 games in 1994.

How much has the announcer had to drink? He can't get teams or players right. 🥃
