Thank goodness Mark Martin's car didn't veer more to the left towards the crowd in the infield. That would've been catastrophic. But seeing the infield retaining wall, probably wouldn't have happened. But, you never know.

This was the 1st race at Talladega to feature a catch fence all the way around the track. It was lengthened following Jimmy Horton's accident in 1993

It's great watching these old races, I remember these as a kid... it's to bad Nascar screwed it up through the years... buy began pandering to a new generation to get new fans that didn't care while forgetting about the old fan that made them who they were... Just like there's rumors of hybrids in a few years, how fucked up sadly, the sport I knew is a kid has been ruined, thanks NASCAR, keep pandering to people that don't like you

Earnhardt was just the best period at this place he could see the air as they say just a awsome race and some of the best racing i have scene at the end of the race back when racing was racing and not the BS it is today thank you Smiff for all the races you share with us especially in my opinion the golden era stuff 80s and 90s some of the 00s but the COT ruined the sport and been trying ever scince to get it back i dont think they ever will

@EricCox48484 жыл бұрын
Only in 2004 when they pelted Jeff Gordon's car with cans after he won under caution. Probably a lot of Dale Jr. fans. Whether or not they got caught, I'm not sure.

Mark Martin is always involved in big crashes, but this one takes the cake for probably the scariest crash in his career for Mark Martin that is. No brakes, slamming a concrete wall and then shooting through two guardrails. Thank God the second guard rail stopped him because I was afraid he was going to go in the lake if it didn’t
@rodcrawford55474 жыл бұрын
Earnhardt has to be the best driver to have sit it a race car!!! Bar no one. Many many times he ran second, like Martin ran in the top five most of his career, Earnhardt almost won every race that he was in contention, and that was most races. He taught the young drivers how to drive! Most of the time by him passing them on the last lap. He taught Jeff Gordon how to run his car up front when he needed to be there, and I know Jeff really loves him for taking him under his wing and molding him after himself. JR. Was another great racer if he hadn't retired so early, but do to all the circumstances that came along after his Father was gone he decided that he had nothing to prove, Daytona 3 times and could have been many other times if he would have stayed in the car. He had nothing to prove! and racing is a very dangerous Job. It's bad to say that if Dale hadn't had his life shortened by the non safety issues with nascar racing, they would have been a many many more lose their life! But after Dale's accident, nascar knew what had to happen... Safety comes first! Whatever it must take, they couldn't afford to lose another "GREAT MAN LIKE DALE EARNHARDT "! and it worked!!!!!!! So sorry Dale for it taken your life to make nascar, "SAFETY FIRST" RIP DALE EARNHARDT SR. WE ALL LOVE AND MISS YOU FOREVER AND EVER. TILL WE SEE EACH OTHER IN HEAVEN... THANK You LORD FOR DALE...🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I agree that Junior could have been great, one of the best! I feel like after his Dad, the invincible and tough Big E got killed, he was scared! He ran for a few titles but after so long, he lost the hunger to win! He was so popular that he didn't need to win.
@christolbert46285 ай бұрын
It seemed like it rained there every time they raced. Story was told that it was built on top of an Indian burial ground. I remember Dale Jr. called Todd Bodine "cue ball head". 😅

Bob was wrong about the pole speed, the fastest pole speed since the plates came on board in 1988 up to this race in 94 was Bill Elliott in 1990 with a speed of 199.3 in his Coors Melling Thunderbird...

Talladega always had a bad reputation for having drunks acting a fool! Anybody throwing cans, batteries or anything else should be banned from sporting events for life! As in criminal trespassed with a restraining order!
