It baffles me how ABC didn’t show the trophy presentation for this World Cup. I had to flip over to Univision. Were they worried about going over time for the affiliates and their 6pm newscasts? I don’t think ESPN/ABC ever left out the trophy presentation again all the way to 2014.

What about 2002 final? ABC had the final live and showed it agai early afternoon the same day. No trophy presentation in the taped broadcast, but was it shown during the live broadcast. This World Cup was in South Korea and Japan.

Does anyone have a link to the full commentary of either the full match commentary or a snippet near the penalty shootout where the commentators say “I can’t understand why the game ends like this” .. refering to the penalty shootout 😂. American commentary btw. Idk if KZbin took it down or what but that just shows you how Americans were super foreign to the sport back in the 90s. The original was the full 120 + penalty shootout. Saw it like 4 -5 years ago.
