I drive a 94 LS400 with 1,100,000 million miles on the clock and she’s still going strong, all the lights buttons switches still work, still feels brand new, a true testimony to the incredible build quality of these machines, 30 years on she’s still running like the day she rolled off the line

In 2007 I was thinking about buying a large sedan, I decided on the S500, I should have bought the LS, from what I see, much more durable. I don't know the things that may have broken in the Lexus, in mine the gearbox had to be opened, at 600,000 km I had to change segments in the engine due to low compression in one cylinder.

I remember being the proud young owner of of a 1988 Toyota Corolla and then seeing this car in the dealership - I looked at this LS in the dealership and just stared at it for long , long time . So many years later - Although I never Purchased one - I love this car and what it stood for.

My first car was a 93LS400 that I paid for in cash when I was in High School. It was the greatest car I have ever driven. Even after owning BMWs and Mercedes of newer models, I still respect this car the most. This car was my adolescece, it was a part of my identity. It was quieter than a Rolls Royce, it felt smoother than a womans buttocks. Turning the steering wheel felt like marshmellows. The sound system was legendary, and many party nights ended in glorious rides home in this car. No kidding, broads that I barely knew in hs used to literally jump into the car and say, "Take me with you." The back seat had plenty of room, I even remember taking a few chicks back there because they insisted on it. 😏😏 The ladies loved to ride in it... And they even loved to ride me in it. Not that the car was everything; certainly your wisdom, knowledge and understanding will always draw attention from the opposite sex. However, the LS400 was a machine built to compliment the integrity of a man who would never forsake his confidence. A man that would take her around the city, giving her the feeling of safety and assurance of security, while courting her during a time well spent.

I have a 1998, it isn't really that quiet. Lexus fooled early buyers by placing foam all over the areas where wind hits and over time they deteriorate. Mercedes on the other hand puts quietness in the early engineering steps. LS400 is still an exceptional smooth car though. It stays planted under harsh road conditions.

These were the best years for the LS and the W140, I loved seeing them in-person as a young child, it was almost like seeing a celebrity, mother and father stubbornly maintained their love for American luxury with their Town Car and Fleetwood, while I loved them, they seemed so "nostalgic" compared to the LS and W140.

I've picked up some whispers that the earlier models had a lot more attention to fit detail and material when they were trying to knock BMW and M-B off their perch. In other words, Toyota was ready to sacrifice and not make a ton on each car, and throw in higher spec parts than was even necessary to make their statement. Then, gradually as they rose to dominance, certain components just edged back into Toyota quality, which was still enough to keep Lexus ahead. In other words, the Japanese bean-counters were finally consulted and they said, "Who's to know? Let's make some money!" So, we owners are beneficiaries of Toyota's billion-dollar assault and strive for perfection, the way I see it.
