What Camerons Car Reviews has to say about the 1995 4Runner: For 1995 the 4Runner gets new tape stripes on V6 models. One of America's favorite's the Toyota 4Runner is starting to get ran over by new fresh competition from Ford and Chevrolet. Toyota's main selling point for the 4Runner is it's reliability which is superb and it's off road capabilities. Power comes from a 2.4 L 4-Cylinder or you can get a 3.0 L V6 with a 5-Speed Manual or 4-Speed Automatic. On the inside you will find a dash that is slightly outdated but still simple to use, the new 1995 Ford Explorer will have a more inviting interior. Toyota is due for a redesign of the 4Runner next year which should keep the 4Runner fresh for it's new competition. All in all the 1995 Ford Explorer or the new Chevrolet Blazer might suit better however if your looking for great reliability and off road capabilities and your a repeat buyer of a 4runner, you will enjoy your purchase.

Damn what a gorgeous model. My father use to own a 94’ Toyota 4Runner 3.0L V6, with a rare 5 speed manual 10 years ago. At that time I wasn’t a fan of it but it did likes it. But now I love these classic bullet proof, solid Japanese off-road SUV’s/truck Now I want to get those classic model.

If anyone is looking to buy one of these I STRONGLY recommend not buying a automatic. I had one for about a month and had to sell it .The motor had good compression and was taken care of as well. I now am searching for a manual one as they are a lot more enjoyable for both up hills and city driving.

I had a loaded 94 4runner SR5 back in 94, it cost $26K with Sunroof, Leather, ABS, but no Airbags or Lockers, But the 4runner known as the drugrunner was very Reliable, sold it in 2003 for $7K for a Nissan Pathfinder known as the Crackfinder.

In Australia this model went through to 1997, before being superceded by the new 3.4 lite V6 in the Toyota Prado model. Some parts are no longer being made and some are impossible to find even on E-Bay . So have to make do with what I can get or custom made. Biggest weakness with 4runner is the steering linkage and the timing belt.

I have a 95 right now and im going through that issue with the sun roof. most of these 4runners have recalls on them. make sure u go to your dealer and have them look up your vin. I just got my services for a 50n recall. due to week steering relay rod. I love my truck so far.

I have same setup and year...just no leather or sunroof:( The 3vze engine had headgasket recall and are prone to blow heads. So not exactly reliable as you state. Although some get lucky and no issues for 300,000+ miles. 3rd gen(starting in 1996) are when they fixed everything. I just happen to prefer 2nd gen, minus the low powered and sensitive 3.0 3vze that will eat your wallet once it gets a taste. Helpful video...I now know my oil pressure is too low...unfortunately that means something deep in engine I suspect as I have pretty much replaced/fixed everything else. ...anyone know what driver side fender part with hard lines coming out is? Is that a 'limited extra'? I don't have that on mine...just a big empty space there.

As the owner of a 2nd gen, all I can say is don't buy it as a dd. Horrible gas mileage and is NOT reliable. Very few of them have an original, or at least rebuilt top end. Mine went 167k miles. It is a highly maintained example. However, if you can live with expensive repairs and low teen to single digit mpg's, you'll love it.

If u used the 3.0 is any sort of hot climate or towed anything bigger then a rowboat then ur heat gasket is not gonna live long. VERY expensive fix. Plus one of the most thermally-inefficient engine ever made. 150 hp, and 20 mpg on the highway. Thats gotta be under 15%
