Best of the Best . a few bad breaks but Norman had a huge heart and passion . I think his passion and heart and is why he didn't win 10 majors . Tiger was is great but Greg is in the same league . Jack even said Greg was the best player he had ever seen .

Tiger not only copied Norman's swing, he took his caddy - Williams and his coach -Harmon too ! Long live the Shark

Nope, did not copy his swing at all.

@@A-FrameWedge tigger‘s father saw Greg Norman shoot a tournament record at the British Open in 1993 and said I want my kid to swing like that guy. That is how Tiger found Butch Harmon. That is not opinion, that is fact.

Norman should have closed out more majors than he did. It all came down to mental strength. Still up there amongst the best though

Greg was the number 1 player on the planet for over 6 years. How does that not make him "a pressure player"?? How does that make him a "choker". I don't like Norman as a human being but he was not a "choker". He IS the best driver of the golf ball that ever lived . Bar none.

Had the pleasure of talking to him at Muirfield for about 30 minutes just me an him and he was a real gentleman. You're absolutely spot on with your post though.

Not all losses in majors were his fault.

People forget that Norman was good enough to be in the lead to be in the position to "choke" in the first place. The best thing he could of, should have done was to seek out Trevino and play a heap of rounds with him and learn that once you have hit the ball there is nothing you can do about it. Trevino approached every single shot like it was the first ball he was hitting that day, while Norman was his own worst enemy, clinging on to every mistake he made.

The truly greatest players find a way to win the Majors down the stretch, Norman too often found a way to lose, usually with flared shots out to the right.

If I'm Norman's Caddie, on holes 11, 12, & 13; if he uses one less club, he would've won the US Open. He was too strong, & the winds were all at his back on those holes. On 13, a 3 metal wood would've placed him on the fairway instead of the rough.... Just saying. I've always said: "I wish I had Norman's looks, but Freddie Couple's swing"

He was not a pressure performer. The greats shine when the lights are the brightest.

+stonewickison That's the point he should have won several more majors, lack yje mental strength in the majors aside from the open twice and he messed up there a couple of times as well. It's a shame because he should have been one of the all time greats

James Gonzalez Exactly my point.
@stephenjackson9597 жыл бұрын
I don't think that he didn't have the mental strength, it was more that his style of play was go for everything at all times like Mickelson. It won him lots of tournaments but it undoubtedly cost him some majors where a more cautious approach would have been better, No better example than the 1989 Open. If he'd hit 3 wood off the 18th tee in the playoff he might have won, He smashed a drive that was 3 yards off line and went 30-40 yards further than normal and left him dead.

He loves to complain about Tiger and brag on and on how he knows all these conservative presidents etc but it must irk him that for all his clothing apparel he would give it all up for one- a clue its colour is green.

@A-FrameWedge Жыл бұрын
@@hallibower Butch Harmon didn’t teach Norman until late in his career and Tigers swing looked nothing like Normans, especially the way Norman drags his right foot, follow through means nothing the ball is gone and effects nothing.
