Thank you so much! I don’t know shit about cars but thanks to your video I just successfully replaced my water pump by myself in roughly 3hrs (kept having I go to the store). I can’t afford to pay a mechanic and your video saved my ass.

Awesome. Thanks, I am actually working on 1995 GMC Jimmy, your video showed me enough to know what to look for. Excellent video for reference.

Nice job with this video!!! I have a 98 and this rustic/brown transmission fluid has been leaking from underneath my car. Someone suggested I might need a new water pump. Just by watching your video--I think I can definitely do the job myself after ordering the parts. Ebay and Rockauto--parts are cheap! That's why I love Chevy.
@GEARMOAUTO8 жыл бұрын
+Fred yes thanks for the comment. And for watching! The only trouble i had was getting the fan clutch off, but when u get the tool its easy. Let me know if you got questions.
@Nouvertne258 жыл бұрын
Gearmo Auto yeah--gonna aim to do the job this weekend. I didn't know you could rent tools from Autozone. Sick deal there. I gotta change the water pump, fuel pump, starter, and distributor....I love Chevy's...cheap parts.

Gearmo Auto gotta question for you--I started the job today and have the fan clutch wrench, but the nut was pretty much stripping. I bought some liquid wrench penetrating oil. Would that help loosen the nut if it wasn't moving at all? I feel like once I get that nut loose, the job will be easy.
@GEARMOAUTO8 жыл бұрын
+Fred Hey sorry man, I just got your comments today. How did the job turn out? Penetrating oil could help. Honestly getting the fan clutch off is the hardest part. I hope it worked out!

Hey just a warning, get off the Dexcool and use the green stuff for pre-1995 GM. Reason is because Dexcool corrodes the system in these 4.3L Vortecs. Many actually call it the Dexdeath. I use the O'Reilly's green coolant, trust me, works just fine with the green.

Hector Sanchez does it really?
@hsanc725985 жыл бұрын
@@alexrodriquez9866 Yeah dawg I've been running green coolant for over 2 years now, runs exactly at OE temp and no problems.

Do you know what size idler pulley you installed for replacement?
@v.e.72365 жыл бұрын
Thee video you're referring to uses a hammer to impart an impact on the fastener. An air impact gun/tool or a hammer drill uses the same principle. Have you never used an impact driver on particularly tough fasteners? That's the "go to" move for loosening stuck fasteners, before getting out the hammers/chisels and torches.

Use a Crescent Wrench & a Hammer to pop that clutch fan loose.

Why did you not put the belt back before the fan back on
@purpledoge44666 жыл бұрын
what belt your using?
@SammuelG3 жыл бұрын
Very good instructions! However, you can use 1 1/2 end wrench, and a big pair of good channel lock brand channel locks to get the clutch off. You should never for any reason own cheap channel locks, they will slip on you every time and just serve to make your life miserable.

Did you use the gasket sealer or put the gasket on dry?
@GEARMOAUTO5 жыл бұрын
Just dry after cleaning the engine surface real good
@AP93115 жыл бұрын
@@GEARMOAUTO ok thanks. I was told to put light coat of sealer on it.
@GEARMOAUTO5 жыл бұрын
@@AP9311 Some people do that and to be honest its fine to put a light coat between the gaskets. Its kinda like a peace of mind thing. If the gaskets were a cheaper set then maybe i would do that too but if they are decent gaskets then there should be no problem.
