Oh man, had this van as a child, it is the best minivan out there. We had bought it new, drove it across the country, off road, and put 250k kilometers on it. It needed repairs only a few times. Love it!

Great van! My parents' used to have a 96 silhouette. Miss that van. I wish it was never totaled back 2008. Ran perfect from when we bought it with 60,000 miles to 110,000 miles when it was totaled. Definitely better than the 3 voyagers' we had before that and the venture we had afterwards.

These were really great vehicles. My mom ran her 1995 Lumina sedan for almost 20 years, no major issues. I got several years of service out of it after she finally got something new. I ended up having an issue with the AC compressor (not a major issue IMO), and finally a blown head gasket. If I had the time and expertise to fix that myself, I have no doubt I could have gotten several more years of service from that warhorse of a car.
@djhorn5769 Жыл бұрын
Well it’s a good thing you got as many years out of it as you did. Apparently those engines were really bad about blowing head gaskets. I remember my mom’s Astro went through two of them, and my stepmom’s Pontiac Montana went through at least one. Both completely different engines, but the head gaskets were very big problems on those.

Just a bit more indepth and I would have finally seen where my scanner hooks up to read the codes. Mine has the 3.8 liter. I liked the options of how I could arrange the seats in back. I can face the 2 back ones to face backwards or forwards and the seatbelts are mounted on the seats so it don't matter. I can fit 3 seats in side by each to seat 3 in middle and flip the outer one forward to fit the 2 passengers in rear if those seats are facing forward. This is a good van to haul little children in but for actual full sized people I have been using my ford aerostar with its big comfy seats.

Take a look at the dashboard design of this van, and then take a look at the dashboard design of a 1987-1991 Toyota Camry. Tell me if you see much of a difference. Apparently GM (specifically Chevy) and Toyota collaborated on some designs in the 1990s, and there was even a rebadged Chevy Cavalier sold as the Toyota Cavalier in Asia and Europe. Also, this video was posted exactly one day before I got my driver's license!
