Once, SK Tools had a flexi whip 1/4 drive extension. Would have made that hard bolt a few seconds of work. Also, you want 1/4 drive flex sockets for tight access. Always want 2 or 3 options on the PITA tasks under the dash.

This sounds like a wonderful job to do on my humid 90+ degree non-electric heated concrete. 🤣 the ticking sound the acutator makes is driving me literally crazy.

TY Tyler. This is what my daughter’s “ mud digger “ 98’ GMC K2500 Anthem off road equalizer 42” Super Swampers 12” lift I bought her is doing. The hard part for me is going to be climbing in and out to fix it 😝 not removing the dashboard 😂😂. PS I’m living my teen years thru her 😂😂 I miss them days. But she’s a Mississippi Delta girl keeping it COUNTRY !! But seriously for you southern dads out there it’s a GREAT WAY to bond with your daughters and keep the boys wishing 😉

If you just need to get to the actuator on the left and right, you don’t need to take off the whole dash. There’s 3 in all.

Reset the actuator gearing to factory. Manually with low voltage signals to appropriate pins. Instructions are online. Never power up vehicle while actuators are not fully installed. Gears goin freestyle not good.

@@tylerpankratz5365 thanks yeah I fixed mine and Jimmy rigged a tab to hold it in place from the outside so it doesnt pop out again. I'm still getting air from the defrost when its off. It looks like the linkage doesn't close the defrost door all the way. I can manually shut it and get good air through the forward vents. Idk I'll let you know if I find a fix.

@@geoff0brn so you'll still get some air out like I did but it shouldn't blow to hard. Some older trucks like mine have bad seals. You'll notice my flaps had the rubber seals missing in some places. If you want it air tight I'd recommend a good sealant like weatherproofing that's not to thick or obstructing the flaps from operating properly.

my face vent doesn't blow, I changed the blend actuators on the driver side, the one in the middle, but haven't got the one by the blower, I also haven't taken the dash off,im wondering if it is the door to the face that is stuck or broken somehow.

I got the 96 k1500 z71 4x4 and I got no air at all from my vents, 🤷 not the fuses already check it ,I got no air at all

Have same problem but I inspect the blend door and it looks to have either broken or detached itself

Should be an easy fix if it detached. Don't put it right on make sure the clutch moves it correctly or you'll still have the problem

Did the "flap" come loose all on its own or was that a result of removing the dash? Mine will not blow out the front/face vents and so was wondering if it was the door actuator or the "flap"? Can I fix the flap without removing the dash? Thanks, very helpful video.

The flap came out on their own. If you can use your phone camera or a bore light to see if it fell off. Check all your vents and you should see them if they look in place it could've slipped off the clutch that moves it open/closed. You should see if you get any airflow out the front because you could have more then one door not working. But before your take your dash off check all of your blend door actuators l, you'll have 3 of them. If they are good check your blower motor and fuses. Pay close attention what happens to all of the above when you switch between directional flows.
