Just pure SOUND. No electronics needed at all. This is what drumcorp is about. This drum line is legendary. 7 snares..small but so precise.

I miss 90's Drum Corps. I know shows have more room for bells and whistles now but the 90's in my opinion were the peek of drum corps. This opening hit is ridiculously, wickedly loud, and in your face!

J. Birney Crumb. DCEast baby! Camped there in 97....best corps fans, best stadium. ill Never forget when Dean Westman brought the hornline in to say, "see that guy about 10 rows up on side 2? That's Jim Prime; he came to see YOU GUYS." I freaked out, he'd not been seen since Star exited the Finals Field in 93. asked Dean later about it, said "He liked it." [the show] best compliment EVER. Jim. F-ing Prime. Came to watch US play. unreal man.

Tapper7 this was my last year marching, and the first show that year iirc we saw bd. drumcorps jsut doesnt sound the same anymore with this tinny bs they do now. i swear i marched the peak of drum corps before it started becomingwhat it is now. '92-96 had a LOT of great shows.

I couldn't image this show with a Bb horn. In those days hearing the warmup w/ ditty is worth the price of admission. I love this show. Thanks for posting.

Seeing all these wonderful comments makes me even more proud to have marched that year. This was also the first year for the first tie for first place...

My God....the power of G bugles!!

amazes me how people think these "band" instruments of today are bugles !
@veot.28692 жыл бұрын
Yep and yep. They pretty much killed the "BIG SOUND" of the "performance" instruments by attempting to make things less complicated. Drum corps was never meant to be played on "concert" instruments. You march and play to win!!!

To mrrod67: There's plenty of melody in there. Search Charles Mingus's "Children's Hour of Dream" and you'll hear where the opener came from. Then search Michael Daugherty "Desi" and you'll get the second. The ballad is the love theme from "Dick Tracy". And if you watch video #2, it includes the chase theme from "Mission: Impossible". Plenty of melody.

hell you don't even need to hear the show, the warm up could win it all !. . . . . . but I don't mind the opening number. Among their all time best openers ! TESTICULARITY !

I got my 1st taste of a BD victory arc out west in 96. Sick as f---! That was before the book and solos got hosed down so a MUCH riskier show before we hit 'Drums.' (lots more double c's and runs and a backfield screamer solo that was hosed cuz the guy was hit or miss on it. Still one of my all time favs. My bro's Kettlehut and Buckner are in this arc on sop - and the king of them all: Billings!! screamer/soloist extraordinaire(Lead sop 94-97) and now a legit pro.

remember when this was their standard on-field warm up before every show?? Long before the days of the modern pre-show... those indeed were the days.

If you are referring to the top of the show, each quad player played what ever part they wanted as long it was 16th notes. Some did scrapes, others did singles, you name it.
