1996 Honda Accord Mode Door Actuator Replace

In this video i show you all how to replace a 1996 Honda Accord Mode Door Actuator. The mode door actuator let you chose between panel, floor and defrost. (Where the air comes out of the dash).

Thank you so much for posting this video as you got me in the right spot and my problem was much different the actuator was not broken but Honda had Twisted the wires up and I think one of the wires was intermittently shorting out and that's why it wouldn't work.... I'll repost in a few weeks but that was certainly the problem cuz it wouldn't work at all and now it works every time

Great vid! Lotta people get the blend actuator mixed up with the mode actuator. I have a similar issue on a 2000 Prelude. Air is only blowing on the windshield. I was misguided into removing the blend actuator.

Are you talking about the recirculating actuator on the passenger side? On the prelude there is a mode actuator and recirc actuator.

Maybe for the 1998 accord the mode door actuator is on the driver side, but I have a 2004, and it is the blend door actuator that's on the driver's side. The mode door actuator is on the right side.

Excellent, had this exact problem and did essentially the same diagnostic, but in my case, the actuator didn't move when plugged, and the arms moved (with some effort). In my case, some previous owner had installed a Sirius XM radio adapter and the rats-nest of cords obscured the actuator, taking up my time. Gonna take out the actuator and see if it's stuck now, thanks for the guide.

Yes, as it was pointed out in the comments below that is actually the mower door not the blend door.

Luckily mine wasn’t the issue it was the arms on the heater box. I googled the part number and saw some on eBay. Google “denso 063700-4833” I hope this helps!

Would this make it not blow hot air? It blows good cold but doesn't blow hot.

Hard to diagnose without seeing it. It could be a possibility if the door is shut closing the heater core off. There is a shut off valve under the hood in the heater line that is know for coming unhooked. I would check there first. Good luck my friend!

That's a mode door. Not a blend door. Blend door blends hot and cold
