Got Masami Hirosaka's auto graph my Yokomo YRX10 . Bought the a car from the hobby shop when the track first opened , serpent excel, they didn't have any kits of I tooked the assembled display. Use to race at least one a week for a few years, mostly electric. We go & have Chinese food after the Saturday night races. Ron Paris was there a lot with his drivers. When I was trying to get my serpent running Ron helped tune my engine. He always had a specially reinforced chair at the first pit table. RIP. I can't remember all the names of the people that helped me with that car but that's what cool fellow racers do! Larry Gold was the first guy to ever pit for me , thanks Larry & Donna! I have so many fond memories of the track. Glad it's still there!

I remember me and some buddies from Naperville Illinois drove down to the mattoon concrete high speed banked "590 track Thursday was open practice which meameant we could run bigger costum modified pack racing 7 cell batteries packs and we were faster joel Johnson was so pissed all day long he tried his hardest to get us kicked off that track that day but open practice biggest poir loser asshole i ever met
